포은시 해석의 몇 가지 문제

국문 초록

작품의 사상적·문예적 가치에 대한 정확한 감상과 평가는 그 선행적 기초작업으로서 객관적 해석과 번역이 철저하게 수행되어야 된다. 우리가 한시에 대해서 갖는 관심은 일차적으로 학술적 연구 문제에 있기는 하지마는, 동시에 보다 많은 독자의 확보에도 비중을 두어야 한다. 이 독자들은 작품의 감상자들로서 아 감상을 통해서 작품의 전부를 향수하게 된다는 사실을 감안해 볼 때, 연구자들을 위한 번역을 넘어서서 일반 독자들을 위한 작품의 해석과 번역은 필요하다고 여겨진다. 포은학회에서 번역 출간한 『포은선생집』(한국문화사, 2007)은 13년의 시간이 흘렀다. 그간 포은시에 대한 많은 연구가 축적되었으니, 연구자들이 포은시에 관한 번역서를 이용하면서 번역의 문제점들을 찾아 검토하는 작업이 이루어졌으면 좋겠다. 2018년 한국고전번역원에서 번역한 『포은집』은 기존 번역서의 오역을 바로 잡았지만 한글세대들이 이해하기 어려운 용어들을 그대로 사용하고 있다. 앞으로 번역할 때는 이해하기 쉬운 용어를 잘 선택하여 한글세대들이 번역서를 이용하는데 불편함이 없도록 했으면 좋갰다. 한국고전번역원에서 기존에 나온 번역서도 문제가 있으면 다시 재번역할 필요가 있다. 가령 서거정의 『동문선(東文選)』의 경우 민족문화추진회에서 1968년에서 1970년 사이에 번역 출간한 뒤에 아직 새롭게 번역한 책이 나오지 않았다. 보다 쉽고 정확한 해석과 번역이 된 『동문선』이 출간되었으면 좋겠다. 한문으로 기록된 수많은 고전문헌은 전통의 보물창고이지만, 한글세대에게는 접근하기 어려운 보물이다. 한글세대들이 보물창고를 잘 활용할 수 있도록 번역서가 잘 나왔으면 좋겠다.

영문 초록

The accurate appreciation and evaluation of the ideological and literary values of a work should be carried out thoroughly with objective interpretation and translation as a prior basic work. While our interest in Chinese poetry is primarily in academic research, we should also focus on securing more readers. Given the fact that these readers, as viewers of the work, will be nostalgic for all of their work, it is deemed necessary to interpret and translate the work for ordinary readers beyond translation for researchers. “The Book of Poeun Teachers”(Korean History of Culture, 2007), translated and published by the Poeun Society, has been over 13 years. Since a lot of research on Poeun poetry has been accumulated, I hope that researchers will find and review problems in the translation while using the translation on Poeun poetry. “Poeunjip,” translated by the Korea Institute of Classical Translation in 2018, corrects the mistranslation of existing translations, but uses terms that are difficult for the Korean generation to understand. In the future, I hoped that the Korean-language generation would have no inconvenience in using translations by selecting easy-to-understand terms. If there is a problem with the existing translation from the Korea Institute of Classical Translation, it is necessary to re-translate it. For example, in the case of “Dongmunseon” by Seo Geo-jeong, a newly translated book has yet to be released after being translated and published by the National Cultural Promotion Association between 1968 and 1970. I hope that “Dongmunseon” will be published in the future, which is easier and more accurate in interpretation and translation. Many of the ancient Chinese characters recorded in Chinese characters are traditional treasure troves, but they are hard to reach for the generation of Hangeul. I hope the translation will come out well so that the Korean generation can make good use of the treasure trove.
