국문 초록

발굴과정에서 얻어지는 생태자료가 꾸준히 축적되고 있음에도 불구하고, 청동기시대 생계전략과 기후복원에 포괄적으로 활용되지는 못하고 있다. 또한 그 상당 부분이 곡물로 여러 차례 집성되기도 하였지만, (시기와 종류에 대한) 동정(同定)을 넘어 당시의 기후조건이나 변화 등 거시적정보와 어떻게 연결되는지를 알려 줄 체계적인 복원도 거의 없다. 본고는 그러한 점에 불편을 느끼면서 ‘맥락적 이해’를 위한 몇 가지를 시도한다. 청동기시대 식료 채집ㆍ생산행위를 기후(변화)의 맥락에서 이해하기 위해, 개별 식물ㆍ곡물자료를 재구성하여분포상 특징을 파악하고 기후인자의 분포와 대비한다. 그러한 분석의 결과, 청동기시대 전기 동안은 현재의 기후환경과 유사하거나 일부 시점에는 어느 정도 온난했을 것으로 추정된다. 그러한 환경에 힘입어 조선 후기까지도 한반도 남부를 벗어나지 못했던 벼 재배의 실질적 북한계가 대동강유역까지 확장되었을 가능성도 엿보인다. 그러나 여러 가지 정황증거는 그것이 이례적임은 물론, 안정적이고 실질적인 벼 재배의 한계는 한반도 중부이남을 넘어서지 못했음을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

Although vegetation data derived from archaeological excavation at Bronze Age sites, they are not comprehensively used in reconstructing environment and subsistence strategy of the period. In addition, large part of the data is about grain and they has been complied several times, but it has been rarely explored how they were related to the contemporary climatic condition or changes beyond the simple identifications for temporal affiliation and species. Feeling uncomfortable for the current practice, we attempt several things for ‘contextual approach.’ In order to understand Bronze Age people’s activities relevant to gathering and/or producing food stuffs in the context of climate condition and its change, we reorganizing the vegetation and grain data, looking at their distributional patterns, comparing them with climate patterns. The results of analyses suggest that the temperature of Bronze Age were likely to be similar today’s. Owing to the environmental hospitality, the rice-farming zone which limited to southern Korean Peninsula might have proceeded northward to the Daedong River basin. However, some conditional evidence supports that it was exceptional and that reliable and substantial northern limit of rice-farming during Bronze Age could have not passed Han River Basin.
