고창 봉덕리 고분 출토 금동신발의 문양 특징과 의미

국문 초록

본 논문은 고창 봉덕리 고분에서 출토된 금동신발의 문양에 대한 것이다. 현재까지 20여점 정도 보고 된 금동신발 중 가장 완벽한 형태의 것으로 평가받고 있는 것이 바로 고창 봉덕리 고분 출토품이다. 금동신발은 재료적 특성도 있지만 좌우 측면과 바닥면에 장식된 다양한 문양으로 인해 외형적으로 더 화려하게 보인다. 일제강점기에 출토된 식리총의 금동신발, 2009년 고창 봉덕리에서 출토된 금동신발, 2014년 나주 정촌고분 출토 금동신발 모두 마찬가지다.이들 금동신발에서 보이는 각종 문양은 용, 인면조신, 새, 쌍조문, 괴수상, 연화문 등이다. 하지만 고창 봉덕리 금동신발에서만 확인되는 특징적인 문양이 있다. 그것은 스페이드형의 기하학적 문양과 원형 인물상이다. 기하학적 문양은 중국의 자료와 문헌 기록을 통해, 만물 생성의 근원인 氣를 표현한 것으로 이해된다. 원형 인물상 역시 고구려 고분벽화와 중국자료의 사례를 고려하면, 피장자의 얼굴로 추정된다. 이 두 문양은 봉덕리 금동신발에서 가장 특징적인 문양이라고 할 수 있다.현존하는 금동신발 중에는 파손되거나 잔존 상태가 좋지않아 표면에 장식된 문양을 파악하지 못하는 경우가 많았다. 그러나 고창 봉덕리 금동신발은 비교적 완전한 상태로 출토되었기 때문에 좌우 측판과 바닥판에 있는 다양한 문양의 성격과 그 의미를 파악할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 점 때문에 이 신발의 완전성만큼이나 그 가치를 인정받고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper is about the patterns on gilt-bronze shoes excavated from Bongdeok-ri tomb in Gochang. Among the 20 gilt-bronze shoes that have been reported so far, the Gochang Bongdeok-ri tomb giltbronze shoes are evaluated as the most perfect. Although gold-bronze shoes have material properties, they look more colorful outwardly due to the various patterns decorated on the left and right sides and floor. The same is true for the gilt-bronze shoes excavated at the Siklichong(식리총) during the Japanese colonial period, the gilt-bronze shoes excavated at Bongdeok-ri, Gochang in 2009, and the gilt-bronze shoes excavated at the Tomb of Naju Bogam-ri Jeongchon in 2014. The various patterns that can be seen in these gold-bronze shoes are dragons(龍), bird s body on a man s face of statues(人面鳥身), birds(鳥), pattern of the two birds with their heads(雙鳥紋) crossing each other statues of monster, and lotus patterns(蓮花紋). However, there is a characteristic pattern that can only be found in gilt-bronze shoes in Bongdeok-ri, Gochang. It is a spade-shaped geometric pattern and a human faces with a circular figure of the circular figure. Geometric patterns are understood as expressing energy(氣), the origin of creation of all things, through Chinese materials and literature records. The human faces with a circular figure is also presumed to be the face of the person buried in the tomb, considering the examples of Goguryeo tomb murals and Chinese materials. These two patterns can be said to be the most characteristic patterns in the Bongdeok-ri gilt-bronze shoes. Among the existing gilt-bronze shoes, there were many cases where it was not possible to understand the decorative patterns on the surface due to damaged or poor remaining condition. Since the gilt-bronze shoes in Bongdeok-ri, Gochang were excavated in a relatively complete state, it was possible to grasp the nature and meaning of the various patterns on the left and right sides and bottom plates. Because of this, it is valued as much as the integrity of these shoes.
