국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 경마도박자들의 중독과정에 대해 탐구하는 데 있다. 연구의 목적 달성을 위해 경마도박에 중독되어 있는 8명의 참여자들과 1:1 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집했다. 수집된 자료는 Strauss와 Corbin(1990; 1998)이 제안한 근거이론 방법으로 분석했으며 Padgett(1998)이 고안한 엄격성 제고 전략으로 연구를 수행했다. 분석 결과, 총 103개의 개념, 29개의 하위범주, 12개의 범주를 추출할 수 있었다. 또한 연구자는 경마에 중독되는 과정의 핵심범주를 ‘반복적 베팅과정에서 적중과 패배경험을 통해 간헐적 또는 집중적 경마 도박자의 길로 들어섦’으로 제시했다. 이를 바탕으로 연구자는 도박중독자들에게 적용 가능한 실천 및 정책적 개입방안들을 제시했다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the addiction process of horse racing gamblers. To achieve the purpose of the study, data were collected through 1:1 in-depth interviews with 8 people addicted to horse racing gambling and participants. The collected data were analyzed by the grounded theory method proposed by Strauss and Corbin (1990; 1998), rigor of the study were maintained by Padgett s(1998) proposed strategies for maintaining rigor. As a result of the analysis, a total of 103 concepts, 29 subcategories, and 12 categories could be extracted. In addition, the study suggested the core category of the process of being addicted to horse racing as entering the path of an intermittent or intensive horse racing gambler through hit and background experiences in the repetitive betting process. Based on this, the researcher suggested practical and policy intervention plans applicable to gambling addicts.
