국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 사회구동시스템으로서의 중세 종교정책에 대해 8세기 전후 서고트왕국과 후기우마이야왕조의 사례를 중심으로 비교연구하고 이를 토대로 그 역사적 함의 등을 검토하는 것이다. 중세 초기 국가들에게 있어 종교는 그 사회를 어떠한 형태로 구동시키고 있었는가? 또한 그 사회의 구동 현상을 분석함에 있어서 정치, 군사, 경제 등의 요인들보다 종교 요인에 더욱 주목하여야 하는 이유는 무엇인가? 이러한 의문들에 대한 답을 구하기 위해 기독교왕국과 이슬람왕국에서 시행되었던 제 종교정책들을 기존의 연구들과는 다른 관점에서 분석해 그 실체를 보다 구체적으로 파악하고자 했다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 특정 종교의 범주를 넘어서 제 종교와 사회구동의 관계사적 측면에서 중세 초기의 종교정책을 새롭게 해석하고자 시도한 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to see the meanings of religious policies in modern society by considering a comparative study on the medieval religious policies as a social operating system based on case of visigothic kingdom and ‘umayyad dynasty of córdova’. This comparative study is included to analysis of historic significance about Arianism Christianity, Roman Catholic, Islam, Judaism etc. in the early middle ages. And the religious situation of christian dynasty, visigothic kingdom was compared with religious tolerance in islam dynasty, ‘umayyad dynasty of córdova’. In addition, looking at the Arianism-Roman Catholic split in Christianity and the various disagreements in major religions, this study suggest significance of religious policies towards modern society. Therefore in this regard, this study will be able to provide the appropriate religious policies model in complicated modern society, to add to this opinion to provide pluralistic suggestions of religious policies.
