국문 초록

본 연구는 현재 몽골의 외국어교육 교과와 교육과정, 교과서를 분석하고나아가 몽골의 외국어 교과로서 한국어의 현황을 점검하려는 데 목적이 있다. 이를위해 먼저 교육제도 면에서 몽골 공교육의 K-12 과정 중 외국어 교과의 편제, 시수, 운영과 관련하여 법률과 공식 문서 등을 통해 사실적인 정보들을 확인하였다. 다음으로는 몽골 교육부에서 공개한 국정교과서로서 ‘영어’와 ‘러시아어’ 교과서를 발췌하여구체적으로 분석해 보았다. 이 과정에서 몽골의 영어과 교과서가 유럽공통참조기준(CEFR)을 표준으로 삼고 있다는 점을 발견할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 몽골의 K-12 학교 내 한국어 수업 현황을 분석하고 향후 전망에 대해 살펴보았다. 한국어는 현재제3외국어로서 일부 외국어 심화 학교에서는 정규교과로, 다른 일부에서는 비교과특별활동 시간에 교수-학습되고 있다는 점을 파악하였으며, 분석한 내용을 바탕으로몽골의 외국어교육의 경향을 종합하고 외국어로서의 한국어 교과의 향후 전략에 대해논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze foreign language education program, curriculum, and textbooks in Mongolia, and further to examine the current status of Korean as a foreign language subject in Mongolia. To this end, several terms of the educational system and policy were firstly identified through laws and official documents concerning compilation/formation, instructional hours and management of foreign language courses of the Mongolian public education. Next, the state-authored textbooks released by the Mongolian Ministry of Education were extracted from the English and Russian textbooks and analyzed in detail. In this process, it was found that Mongolian English textbooks set The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as standard. Lastly, this study analyzed current status of Korean language classes at K-12 schools in Mongolia and proposed the future prospects. The Korean language as a subject in Mongolia is a third foreign language now, and it has been confirmed that Korean courses are managed rarely as a regular subject in some foreign language schools, while others as an extra or afterschool program. Based on these analyses and findings, the trends of foreign language education in Mongolia were summed up and the future strategies for the Korean language as a public foreign language subject were discussed.
