매천 황현의 동학농민군과 일본군에 대한 인식

영문 초록

This study shows recognitions of MaeCheon Hwang Hyun(梅泉 黃玹) about DongHak(東學) peasant army and extortion of taxes and japanese army compared to recognitions of DongHak(東學) peasant army. Results of the study are as follows. In the first, He recorded objectively about DongHak(東學) peasant army especially their strictly discipline compared to Confucian scholar of those days. Second, He criticized extortion of taxes by local officials. This attitude was totally coincide with criticism of leader of DongHak(東學) peasant army. Third, He sharply criticized all the brutality of japanese army by using a “threat”, “blackmail”, “robbery”. His critical recognitions was totally coincide with leader of DongHak(東學) peasant army and especially Jeon Bong Jun(全琫準)’s recognitions. As mentioned above, He struggled for objectively history recording of those days.(Oh-Ha-Ki-Mun(梧下記聞)). He define DongHak(東學) peasant army as a “enemy”. But, he directly participated in suppression. Current situation recognitions’s similarity his and the Kangwha school(江華學派) and between leader of DongHak(東學) peasant army was the reason why he directly participated in suppression.
