6·10만세운동 연구의 현황과 과제

국문 초록

북한 학계는 6·10만세운동 당시 조선공산당의 주도성을 인정하면서도 조직상의 한계로 인해 광범위한 대중의 참여를 이끌어내는 데 실패하였다고 보았다. 최근에는 좌우합작운동의 시원으로서 그 의의를 새롭게 조명하는 등 관점의 전환이 나타나고 있다. 반면 1960∼1970년대 남한학계의 연구는 모두 6·10만세운동을 학생운동의 관점에서 파악하였다. 조선공산당 계열의 준비가 사전에 발각되어 실패하였고, 실제 만세시위를 전개한 주체는 학생이었다는 사실을 강조한 것이다. 1990년대에 들어 종래 학생 중심의 현상적 파악에서 벗어나, 사전 준비과정과 각 운동주체의 연계활동에 주목한 연구들이 발표되었다. 이를 통해 6·10만세운동이 조선공산당과 당시의 민족운동계가 광범위하게 연대한 민족협동전선의 선도적 활동이었음이 밝혀졌다. 향후 6·10만세운동 연구는 당시 민족운동계가 추진한 광범위한 연대의 세부적인 사실관계를 좀 더 분명하게 구명해야 한다. 이러한 과정을 거쳐 거시적 관점에서 이후 민족운동계에 미친 영향을 포함한 역사적 평가가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The North Korean academia acknowledged the initiative of the Chosen Communist Party during The 6·10. Independence Movement, but they viewed the movement as a failure to draw a widespread public participation due to the organizational limitations. Recently, there has been a shift in perspective, as it sheds new light on the significance of the origin of Left-Right Coalition Movement. On the other hand, South Korean academia studies in the 1960s and 1970s all understood The 6·10. Independence Movement from the perspective of the student movement. They stressed that the preparations of the Chosen Communist Party were discovered in advance and failed, and that it was the student who staged the Independence Movement. In the early 90s, research focused on the advance preparation process and the linked activity of each movement subject was published, moving away from the conventional student-centered phenomenological grasp. It was revealed that The 6·10. Independence Movement was a leading activity in the National Co-operated Front Movement, which was extensively joined by the Chosen Communist Party and the national movement of the time. The study of The 6·10. Independence Movement in the future should shed more light on the detailed facts of the broad alliance promoted by the national movement at that time. Through this process, historical assessments, including the impact on the national movement, should be made from a macro perspective.
