노년기 배우자 관계 만족도와 자녀 관계 만족도가 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향에 대한 성별의 조절효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 노년기 배우자 관계 만족도와 자녀 관계 만족도가 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향에 대한 성별의 조절효과를탐색하는 것이다. 연구대상은 한국고령화연구패널조사 6차년도 조사(2016년)에 참여하였으며 배우자와 자녀가 있는 65세 이상의 남성노인 1,611명, 여성 노인 1,251명으로 총 2,862명이다. 분석 변수는 노년기 가족 관계를 대표할 수 있는 배우자 관계 만족도 및 자녀관계 만족도와 성별, 성공적 노화이며, 선행연구를 통해 밝혀진 성공적 노화의 영향요인인 연령, 교육수준, 가구소득, 생존 자녀수, 경제상태 만족도가 통제변수로 포함되었다. 분석 방법으로는 IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0을 활용하여 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 배우자 관계 만족도가 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향에서는 성별의 조절효과가 유의미하지 않은 반면, 자녀 관계 만족도가 성공적노화에 미치는 영향에서는 성별의 조절효과가 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 이에 대한 추가 분석 결과, 여성 노인이 남성 노인에 비하여자녀 관계 만족도가 높을수록 더 많은 영역에서 성공적으로 노화하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 노년기 사회관계망의 축소로인해 그 중요성이 더 부각되는 가족 관계의 두 측면인 배우자와 자녀와의 관계를 중심으로 성공적 노화를 성별에 따라 탐색했으며, 노년기 가족 관계와 성공적 노화와의 관련성이 관계의 특성과 성별에 따라 달라짐을 경험적으로 검증했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the moderating effect of gender on the effect of spousal and child relationship satisfaction on successful aging among older adults. For the analysis, the sample was 2,862 individuals (1,611 males and 1,251 females) aged 65 or older with a spouse and at least a child, who participated in the sixth wave (2016) of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing. The independent variable was spousal relationship satisfaction and child relationship satisfaction, and the dependent variable was successful aging. Gender was included as moderating variable and age, educational level, household income, number of surviving children, economic condition satisfaction were controlled for. A multiple regression analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0. The Analysis showed that the moderating effect of gender on the effect of child relationship satisfaction on successful aging was significant. Then, further analysis of this showed that the higher the child relationship satisfaction, the more successfully the female older adults age compared to the male older adults. The results of this study are meaningful in that successful aging has been examined by gender and it empirically verified the importance of family relationships in later life.
