국문 초록

본 연구는 여성의 성범죄두려움에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인으로 무질서를 지정하고, 개인의 취약 특성(연령, 장애 여부, 학력, 소득, 배우자 여부)이 무질서와 성범죄두려움 사이에 조절효과를 갖는지 분석함으로써, 정책지원이 필요한 주요 여성계층을 구체화하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 2018년 전국범죄피해조사에 응답한 여성(N=7,055)의 설문자료를 활용하여 무질서와 여성의 성범죄 두려움 사이의 관계성에 관한 위계적 회귀분석을 수행한 결과, 여성의 다양한 인구 사회학적 취약특성 중 배우자 여부가 유의미한 조절 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 배우자가 부재한 경우 무질서가 낮은 지역에서는 여성의 성범죄두려움의 차이가 근소하였으나 무질서 정도가 심한 지역에서는 여성의 성범죄 두려움의 차이가 심화되는 현상을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 국가 차원에서 1인 여성 가구나 한 부모 여성 가구주에 대한 우선적인 정책 지원과 적극적인 범죄 예방 정책의 실행이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This article designates social disorder as the vital ingredient that has the most influence on women’s fear of sexual offences with on the basis of findings from previous relevant studies. The research model is, therefore, designed to examine whether one s vulnerability(i.e., age, disable status, education, income, marital status) has a moderating effect between social disorder and women’s fear of sexual crimes. Measures of fear of sexual crimes and social-ecological factors from a Korean Crime Victimization Survey that collects data on personal and household victimization in 2018 is are utilized to test the hypothesis. Of all mediators, only marital status is found to have a statistically significant moderating effect on relation between social disorder and fear of sexual assaults. When the spouse is absent, the difference in fear of sexual crime appears to be relatively lower in less disordered community whereas the difference in fear of sexual crime substantially increases in heavily disordered community. This finding implies that there is a urgent need for governmental solicitude and preventive policy for single female households and single-parent female householders.
