미세먼지에 대한 초등학생들의 지식·인식 및 태도 조사

국문 초록

이 연구는 서울시와 경기도 고양시에 소재한 3개 학교 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 300명을 대상으로 초등학생들의 미세먼지에 대한 지식·인식 및 태도 수준을 조사하고, 상관관계를 알아봄으로써 초등학교 현장에서 미세먼지 관련 환경교육의 방향 결정에 기초자료로 제공하기 위하여 수행하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 분석된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미세먼지에 대한 초등학생들의 지식·인식 수준은 비교적 높은 편이나, 구체적이고 심화된 내용의 지식·인식 수준은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 미세먼지에 대한 초등학생들의 지식·인식과 태도 수준은 평균적으로 조금 높으나, 관심도는 비교적 낮게 나타났다. 셋째, 미세먼지에 대한 지식·인식 및 태도 수준을 변인별로 분석한 결과, 학년과 지역에 따른 유의미한 차이는 없었으나, 지식·인식 수준에서 성별과 미세먼지 관련 교육 경험 유무에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 남학생의 지식·인식 수준이 여학생보다 조금 높았으며, 미세먼지 관련 교육을 경험한 학생이 미세먼지 관련 교육을 받은 적 없는 학생보다 수준이 높았다. 넷째, 미세먼지에 대한 학생들의 지식·인식 수준에 비해 실제 생활에서의 예방 및 대처는 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학교 현장에서 미세먼지 교육의 개선을 위한 제안 사항은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들의 지식·인식 및 태도 수준을 높이기 위하여 초등학교 현장에서는 실천적인 미세먼지 교육을 강화해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 현 교육과정에는 미세먼지에 대한 내용이 부족하므로 더 많은 내용을 포함시킬 필요가 있다. 셋째, 학생들의 수준과 흥미를 고려한 다양한 미세먼지 관련 교육 프로그램들을 개발하여 효과적인 교육이 가능하도록 교육 현장의 여건이 마련될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is investigate the elementary school students knowledge·awareness and attitude on fine dust to provide the basic data to determine the direction of environmental education related to fine dust at elementary school sites. The students were chosen for purposive sampling from three elementary schools located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do(Goyang city). 260 questionnaires out of 300 collected questionnaires were subjected to data analysis. Participants knowledge·awareness and attitude on fine dust were measured through 27 questions consisting of 17 items for knowledge·awareness(10 for O, X questions and 7 for 5-point scale questions) and 7 items for attitude, with 4 demographic variables. Statistical analysis was conducted on each of the variables that make up knowledge·awareness and attitude on dust fine through means and t-test using SPSS 21.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, the elementary students knowledge·awareness of the fine dust was relatively high, but the level of a profound knowledge·awareness was low. Second, the level of knowledge·awareness and attitude on fine dust showed to a little high, but the interest was relatively low. Third, as result of analyzing the level of knowledge·awareness and attitude on fine dust by variable, there was no significant difference according to grade and region, but there was a statistically significant difference in knowledge·awareness level according to gender and educational experience related to fine dust. Forth, compared with the students knowledge·awareness of the fine dust, prevention and handling in real life seems to be insufficient. Based on the results of this study, suggestion for improving fine dust education at school sites are as follows. First, in order to raise the level of the elementary school students knowledge·awareness and attitude on fine dust, practical fine dust education should be strengthened at elementary school sites. Second, in the elementary school curriculum, we need to deal more with fine dust. Third, the current curriculum lacks the fine dust content, so more needs to be included. Third, it is necessary to develop a variety of fine dust education programs considering the level and interest of the students so that effective education can be achieved.
