성평등 관점에서 본 실과 교과서 분석 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 2015개정 실과 교육과정에 따른 실과 교과서 5,6학년 총 12권에 대하여 성평등 관점에서 성차별적 요소의 여부와 내용을 살펴봄으로써 성평등을 위한 실과 교과서의 역할과 기능을 강조하고자 한 것이다. 구체적으로 실과 교육과정에서 ‘가정일’과 ‘직업’을 다루는 주제에 대하여 성평등 교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 분석하고 전체 단원의 내용과 삽화, 사진 등의 자료에 어떠한 성차별적 요소가 어느 정도 내재되어 있는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 또한, 성평등 관점에서 실과 교과서는 어떠한 특징을 보이고 있으며 개선점은 무엇인가를 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 실과 교과서의 ‘가정일’과 ‘직업’을 다루는 단원에서는 남녀의 활동이나 직업 영역에서 성고정성을 탈피하고자 하는 노력을 보이고 있으나, 특히 ‘성에 대한 편견과 왜곡’, ‘남녀의 활동공간과 사회적 역할 및 행동양식에서의 적절성’에서 차별적 요소를 보이고 있었다. 성차별을 배제하기 위한 다양한 방식을 적용하는 데는 다소 소극적이며 일부 자료 활용에는 부적절함도 보이고 있었다. 또한, 핵심개념 주제에 따라 성차별적 요소의 편차를 보이고 있다. 성평등한 실과 교과서가 되기 위해서는 개발 과정에서부터 성차별 요소를 검토하는 다양한 기준을 고려하되, 특히 삽화 부분은 더 집중적인 관심이 필요하다. 실과 교과에서 성평등 교육을 수행할 수 있는 주제는 교과서에도 적극 반영되어야 할 것이며, 성평등 내용을 담은 자료를 적극 활용하는 방안도 필요하다. 마지막으로 심의 과정에도 성평등 관련 다양한 분석 기준이 확대되어야 할 것으로 보았다.

영문 초록

This study examines the existence and content of gender discrimination factors from the perspective of gender equality for a total of 12 practical arts textbooks for 5th and 6th graders according to the 2015 revised practical arts curriculum. This was to emphasize the role and function of practical arts textbooks for gender equality. Specifically, it analyzes how gender equality education is conducted on the topics dealing with ‘household work’ and ‘occupations’ in the practical arts curriculum, and what kind of gender discrimination elements are embedded in the contents, illustrations, and photos of the whole unit. I tried to find out if it was. In addition, from the viewpoint of gender equality, what characteristics of the practical arts textbooks show and what are the areas of improvement were examined. As a result of the study, the units dealing with ‘household work’ and ‘occupations’ in the practical arts textbooks show efforts to escape gender fixation in the activities or occupations of men and women. And it showed a discriminatory factor in the appropriateness in the behavioral style. It was somewhat passive in applying various methods to exclude gender discrimination, and it was also inadequate to use some data. In addition, there are variations in gender discrimination factors according to the core concept theme. In order to become a gender-equality textbook, various criteria for examining gender discrimination factors are considered from the development process, but more intensive attention is needed in the illustration part. The subject that can carry out gender equality education in the practical arts subject should be actively reflected in textbooks, and a plan to actively utilize materials containing gender equality is also necessary. Finally, in the deliberation process, various analysis criteria related to gender equality should be expanded.
