국문 초록

건축유리조형이라는 분야는 유리공예나 유리조각에 비해 상대적으로 덜 알려진 분야이다. 이 건축유리조형은 제작 후 운반도 어려우며 전시하기도 쉽지 아니하고 제작비용도 많이 소요되는 단점을 안고 있다. 하지만 이러한 많은 제약에도 불구하고 서서히 그 두각을 드러내며 지난 40년간 나름대로 상당한 역량을 보이며 다양한 방식으로 발전을 거듭해왔다. 이규홍 (2014, 05). 현대 건축유리조형의 역사와 제작기법. 에이앤뉴스 논단컬럼, 40(5), 13. 본 연구는 시대적 흐름에 따른 건축유리의 개념을 소개하고 이를 기반으로 하는 건축유리 작가들의 사례분석을 통해 과거의 전통적인 스테인드글라스에서 벗어나 다양한 양상으로 전개되는 현대 건축유리조형의 경향을 분석하고자 한다. 그 내용은 건축유리조형의 역사적 배경과 제작기법을 살피고, 평면적인 형식의 종교건축유리에서 시작하여 시대적 흐름과 다양한 현대 건축유리조형 제작기법들의 발달로 입체, 혹은 부조 형식으로 변화한 건축유리 조형작가들의 작품분석을 통해 현대 건축유리조형의 방향성을 파악하였다. 이 연구를 통해 종교건축에 국한되었던 초창기 건축유리조형의 형태인 스테인드글라스가 시대적 흐름과 기술의 발전을 통해 종교건축뿐 아니라 일반건축에도 다양하고 새로운 형태로 적용되고 있음을 알 수 있었고 이는 건축유리조형의 세계적인 경향을 반영하며 이를 통해 향후 건축유리조형의 방향성을 예측할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Architectural glass art, with the exception of glass craft and sculpture, does not readily belong to the world of mainstream art. It is not portable, hard to exhibit and expensive to make. Yet despite these limitations, it has been slowly emerging these days. Over the last four decade, architectural glass art has generated a wider consciousness of its potential as powerful art form that has the capacity to truly transform environments. This study was conducted to introduce the concept of architectural glass art by flow of ages, and through the research of artists working on these area, to analyze the trend of modern architectural glass art which is being developed into various aspects that are different from the past traditional stained glass art. The purpose of this study is to introduce the concept of architectural glass according to the trend of the times and to analyze contemporary architectural glass through case studies of three glass artists. For this purpose, I studied the historical background and various techniques of architectural glass art, and figured out the tendency of modern architectural glass art by analyzing the renowned architectural glass artists who started as stained glass artists and transformed into three-dimensional or relief form. Through this study, it was confirmed that earlier architectural stained glass art which was limited to religion architecture has been developed into new and various forms and has been applied to general buildings as well as religion ones. This reflects the worldwide trend of architectural glass art, and also the future tendency can be predicted by this study.
