국문 초록

우리가 살아가는 이 사회에서는 범죄가 줄어들기 보다는 범죄가 끊임없이발생하고 있다. 특히 여성을 대상으로 한 범죄가 급증하고 있는 가운데 이러한범죄 소식을 접할수록 여성들의 범죄두려움은 증대되고 있으며, 이로 말미암아국민과 국민, 나아가 국민과 국가 간의 신뢰가 저해되는 현상까지 발생되고 있다. 따라서 여성의 범죄두려움발생의 원인을 찾고자 많은 범죄학자들은 다양한측면에서 그 원인을 규명하고자 하였다. 여성이 감정적으로 느끼는 범죄두려움은 개인문제가 아닌 사회의 문제이며, 범죄두려움으로 인한 여성의 삶의 질 저하 역시 모두의 책임이라고 볼 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 범죄두려움이 여성의삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한다. 다양한 삶의 질의 원인들 중에서범죄두려움과 여성의 삶의 질의 영향을 찾고자 하는 것은 우리 사회에서 삶의질에 대한 관심이 점차적으로 높아지고 있기 때문이다. 특히 삶의 질은 행복의가장 주된 요소이자, 개인이 선택한 기준에 따라 주관적으로 평가되는 자신의생활에 대한 만족도를 의미하는 것으로서 현대사회에서 안전과 관련된 개인의삶의 질은 매우 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 2016년 전국범죄피해조사(KCVS: Korean Crime Victim Survey) 자료를 활용하여 내생변수는 여성의 삶의 질로 보고, 외생변수는 범죄두려움으로 설정하여 범죄두려움이 여성의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 또한 사회환경적 특성과 범죄피해 회복여부를 매개효과로 살펴보았다. 국내외 기존연구들은 여성의 범죄두려움이 어떻게, 그리고 왜 삶의 만족에 영향을 미치게 되는지를 경험적으로 밝히는데 다소 소홀하였다. 하지만 이연구에서는 여성의 범죄두려움이 삶의 질에 미치는 효과를 사회환경이 매개한다는 사실을 입증하였으며, 범죄피해 회복여부는 매개효과를 나타내는 것이 아니라 외생변수로서 범죄두려움과 같이 여성의 삶의 질에 영향을 미친다는 사실을 입증하였다. 하지만 이 연구는 횡단 자료에 의존하고 있기 때문에, 범죄두려움과 삶의 만족 간 경로를 밝히는 데 한계가 있음을 지적하지 않을 수 없다. 비록 연구결과는 삶의 만족에 대한 범죄두려움의 부정적 영향을 암시하지만 인과의 방향에 대해서는 더 깊은 연구가 필요하다고 판단되며, 남은 과제들과 관련하여 차후의 심도 있는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this society in which people live, crime is constantly occurring rather than decreasing. In particular, as crimes against women are increasing rapidly, the more they are exposed to such crimes, the fear of crimes among women is increasing, and trust between the people and the people, and furthermore, between the people and the state is being hindered. Therefore, in order to find the cause of women s fear of crime, many criminologists tried to find out the cause from various aspects. The fear of crime that women feel emotionally is not an individual problem, but a social problem, and the deterioration of the quality of life of women due to the fear of crime can be regarded as everyone s responsibility. In this study, we would like to investigate the effect of fear of crime on the quality of life of women. Among the various causes of quality of life, the reason for finding the effect of fear of crime and the quality of life of women is because interest in quality of life is gradually increasing in our society. Quality of life is the most important factor of happiness, and it means satisfaction with one s life subjectively evaluated according to the criteria chosen by the individual. In modern society, the quality of life of an individual related to safety is a very important factor. Therefore, in this study, using data from the 2016 Korean Crime Victim Survey (KCVS), the endogenous variable is reported as the quality of life of women and the exogenous variable is set as crime fear what it wants to test the impact. In addition, social control and crime damage recovery were examined as mediating effects. Existing studies at home and abroad have been somewhat neglected in empirically revealing how and why women s fear of crime affects their life satisfaction. However, this study proved that the social environment and the recovery of crime damage mediate the effect of crime fear on life satisfaction in the relationship between crime fear and quality of life of women. Because of this study relies on cross-sectional data, it cannot but be pointed out that there is a limit to revealing the path between crime fear and life satisfaction. Although the research results imply the negative effect of fear of crime on life satisfaction, it is judged that a more in-depth study is necessary for the direction of causality, and further studies should be conducted in relation to the remaining tasks.
