교회사 기술의 성령론적 기준에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 논문은 역사가 더 이상 사실의 안정성을 기반으로 기록되지 않는 조건을 전제로 교회사가가 역사 기록의 기준을 무엇으로 삼아야 할지를 모색한다. 역사는 과거와 현재의 끊임없는 대화의 과정이다. 이 정의는 해체주의적 차연의 개념과 상응한다. 의미의 차연 때문에 사실의 안정성은 해체된 것으로 인식되며, 이로 인해 역사쓰기도 과거의 과거성을 확정하는 과정이 아니라 과거에 대한 지속적인 해석의 과정으로 간주된다. 역사쓰기에서 발견되는 차연의 양상은 카오스적으로 다양할 수 있지만, 과거와 현재의 대화라는 정의에 근거할 때, 과거의 현재성 발굴, 은폐된 텍스트에 대한 재해석 등으로 표현될 수 있다. 이렇게 역사가 끊임없이 재해석된다면, 교회사가가 교회의 역사를 집필할 때의 기준은 무엇이어야 하는가? 이에 대해 본고는 교회가 예수에 의해 발생한 현상이기 때문에 그 기준은 예수의 복음이어야 한다고 주장한다. 물론, 복음도 다양하게 재해석되고 있기 때문에 고정된 기준이 되지 못할 수 있지만, 그 복음이 성령의 감동으로 기록된 것이라는 사실을 고려할 때 그 기준을 추정할 수 있다. 성령의 도움이 집필의 기준인 것이다. 그러니까 교회사가는 “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라”(요한복음 14:26)는 사실을 기억하며 성령의 조명으로 역사쓰기를 진행해야 한다. 이것이 교회사를 교회라는 분야에 그 과거성을 고착시켜버리지 않고 현재의 상황에 적용되도록 변용(부활)시켜 개혁의 동력을 제공하는 길이다. 그리고 차연 때문에 현전만 잠정적으로 인정되는 현재에 복음에 대한 이해의 지평을 넓힐 기회를 제공하는 길이다.

영문 초록

This paper studies to what standpoint the church historian holds under the condition that history is no longer written on the basis of the factual stability of the past event. The factual stability is thought to be deconstructed because of the différance of the meaning. The aspects of différance identified from history writing look chaotic, but this paper chooses to present two examples such as interpreting the presentness of the past, and discovering its ‘hidden transcript.’ Those examples testify to the incessant hermeneutics of history, which reflects the unending process of différance. It is not exceptional to the church history. How can church historians write history in a discretional way? The discretion is that they should refer to the spirit of the Gospel. But it may not be considered discretional because the Gospel also gets through the process of incessant interpretation by different situations. As the Gospel was and is inspired of the Holy Spirit, however, they can be helped throughout by Its inspiration. As Jesus said, “the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you”(John 14:26). The inspiration will guide through the ecclesiastical historiography. It follows that church history can be transformed (or resurrected) from the pastness of the past event to reform the present according to the Gospel. It also provides the hermeneutical possibility to widen the horizon of understanding of essence(God) which is considered to be a tentative presence by virtue of différance.
