국문 초록

이 연구는 결혼이주여성을 대상으로 하는 교육콘텐츠의 대부분이 한국어교육이나 사회적응교육에 국한되어 있다는 판단아래, 관련 기관에서 시행하고 있는 교육콘텐츠의 현황을 분석하여 개선 방안을 제시하였다. 다양한 계층의 결혼이주여성의 요구를 수용하기 위해서 단순히 사회적응교육이나 한국어교육에서 나아가 취ㆍ창업 준비교육, 한국인가족을 대상으로 하는 다문화교육 등 좀 더 정교한 프로그램의 개발이 필수적이다. 특히, 최근 양극화가 심화되고 무한 경쟁이 사회적 화두가 되고 있는 시점에서 학력은 신분과 계급을 규정하는 기제라 해도 과언이 아니다. 이러한 맥락에서 저학력 결혼이주자가 안정적인 생활을 영위하기 위해서는 학력자본의 확대가 필요하다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 그 구체적인 방안으로 다문화가족센터와 방송통신고등학교의 연계를 통해 학위 취득 과정을 개설할 것을 제안하였다. 내국인에 비해 언어능력이 떨어지는 이주자가 학위를 취득하려면 시간과 비용 면에서 더 많은 노력이 필요한 것 뿐만 아니라 다문화효능감이 높은 교원의 확보 등 행정적인 지원이 뒷받침되어야 한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 부모의 학력자본이 자녀에게 미치는 상관성으로 볼 때 장기적으로는 다문화가족의 위상을 높이고 결혼이주자 스스로의 자립과 자아실현의 계기를 마련하는 토대가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to develop educational contents for marriage immigrants by analyzing the programs of the multicultural family support centers. The centers are operated by religious organizations, local schools or public offices. In this research, the centers located in Nowon-gu and Dongdaemun-gu were chosen, for the Nowon center has been carrying out a educational program to help immigrants enter upon studies. On the contrary, most of the programs conducted by the centers intend to accommodate to Korean society or promote language abilities. Therefore, it is essential to establish the educational system for marriage immigrants in the middle stage, which is more likely to lead them to complex circumstances in terms of child-rearing, career, or family relationship. Educational capital is one of the most significant qualities in life in Korea. In this context, this study suggests that the measures to expand education capital should help marriage immigrants sustain their cultural identity and heighten self-esteem. Accordingly, Air and Correspondence High Schools or ACHS can be utilized by opening the curricula customized for marriage immigrants. Marriage immigrant women who, for various reasons, may not have had the opportunity to gain access to regular education. In this regard, the ACHS can play an important role in expand educational capital of marriage immigrant women.
