국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 ICT산업의 국제경쟁력과 성장세가 둔화되고 중국 등 후발국들의 추격이 전개되고 있는 상황 하에서 ICT산업의 성장 결정요인 중 특히 무역에 초점을 두고 그 효과를 추정하여 정책적 시사점을 제공하는데 목적을 둔다. 2000년부터 2014년까지의 횡단면 및 시계열 데이터를 사용하여 패널분석으로 추정한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 수출은 ICT 산업의 성장에 가장 큰 영향을 미치며, 다음으로 노동, 수입, 자본이 그 뒤를 이었다. 이는 대외부문이 ICT산업의 성장을 주도해 왔으며 대내적 요인으로는 여전히 ICT산업 성장은 상대적으로 노동투입에 의존해 왔음을 의미한다. 특히, ICT 산업 성장에 대한 자본의 영향이 가장 낮았는데 이는 기술 및 자본 집약적인 고부가가치 성장 단계에 아직 진입하지 못함을 의미한다. 그리고 중국 등 후발국의 풍부한 노동력에 기반한 급속한 성장으로 경쟁이 치열해 짐으로써 노동의존적 성장으로는 ICT산업의 국제경쟁력 확보가 더욱 어려워질 것임을 유추할 수 있다. 한국의 ICT산업의 성장은 대외부문인 수출과 수입에 주로 의존하므로 ICT산업의 지속적인 성장 유지를 위해서는 대외경쟁력 제고가 핵심이며 이를 위해 자본집약적 산업구조로의 전환이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to estimate the effect of trade on Korean ICT Industry growth and to provide policy implications, fousing on trade among the determinants of ICT industry growth. The panel estimation results using the cross - section and time series data from 2000 to 2014 are summarized as follows. Exports have the largest impact on the growth of the ICT industry, followed by labor - import - capital. This implies that the external sector has led the growth of the ICT industry and ICT industry has still relied on labor input for internal factors. In particular, the lowest impact of capital on ICT industry growth means that technology and capital-intensive high value-added growth has not yet been achieved. And ICT means that there is a limit to securing export competitiveness externally under a labor-dependent industrial structure. The growth of the ICT industry in Korea depends largely on exports and imports of the external sector. Therefore, in order to maintain the continued growth of the ICT industry in the future, ICT is important to enhance the competitiveness of trade, which is essential for technology and the efficiency of capital.
