국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중국과 FDI 파트너 국가 간 쌍방향적 FDI 흐름에 영향을미치는 요인들을 규명하는 것이다. UNCTAD와 중국통계연감의 자료를 통해 확보한 중국과 투자파트너 국가 간 쌍대 FDI 금액을 종속변수로 사용했으며, 독립변수로는 시장크기와 국가 간 거리, 이중과세방지협정과 양자간투자보장협정등을 포함시켰다. 연구대상 기간은 2003년부터 2012년 말까지다. 패널토빗 임의효과모형을 통한 분석 결과, 중력모형에 포함되는 시장크기와 거리요인이 중국과 파트너 국가 간 FDI 흐름을 설명할 수 있음을 확인했다. 즉 중국과 파트너국가 간 FDI 흐름은 시장크기와 정의 관계를 갖지만, 거리요인과는 부의 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 이중과세방지협정 변수는 중국과 파트너 국가 간 FDI 흐름에 정의 영향을 미치지만, 양자간투자보호협정은 아무런 영향을미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the determinants of dyadic FDI flows between China and its FDI partner country. The dependent variable is the investment amount of inward to and outward from China. The data for the dependent variable is obtained from the UNCTAD FDI DB and China statistical yearbook. The independent variables are market size, distance between countries, double taxation treaties, bilateral investment treaties and so on. The research period is from 2003 to 2012. Using the Panel Tobit random effect model, we found that market size and geographic distance between countries, which are included in the Gravity model, explained dyadic FDI flows between China and its FDI partner country. The market size of each country has a statistically significant positive effect on dyadic FDI flow but the geographic distance between countries has a negative effect on dyadic FDI flow. Also, DTT (Double taxation treaties) between China and its partner countries has a significant positive effect on dyadic FDI flow but the BIT (Bilateral investment treaties) variable has no significant effect on FDI flow.
