초·중등학생의 친사회성, 교사학생지지와 방어행동 간의 관계에서 또래지위의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 또래괴롭힘 상황에서 초등학생과 고등학생의 친사회성 및 교사들의 학생지지가 또래괴롭힘 방어행동에 미치는 영향과 함께 그 사이에 작용하는 또래지위의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 이러한 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 클래스넷 4차 년도 데이터를 활용하여(박종효 외, 2017) 서울과 경기도를 비롯한 전국 소재의 초등학생(4∼6학년) 2,485명과 고등학생(1∼3학년) 1.641명 총 4,126명을 분석하였다. 또래지명 방식을 활용하여 변인의 값들을 측정하였으며, 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 친사회성, 교사학생지지, 또래지위(인기와 선호), 방어행동 간의 구조적 관계를 확인하였다. 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 친사회성인 행동과 교사학생지지는 방어행동에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 또래지위는 방어행동에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 또래지위는 친사회성 및 교사학생지지와 방어행동 간의 관계를 통계적으로 유의하게 매개하였다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때 친사회성과 교사지지는 또래지위를 향상시키며, 높아진 또래지위는 학교 폭력 상황에서 피해 학생을 돕기 위한 방어행동의 증가에 긍정적인 영향을 미침을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effect of peer status (i.e., popularity, social preference) on the relationship between prosocial traits, teacher-student support, and defending behavior against bullying in elementary and high school students. This study uses data from the fourth wave of ClassNet, a software program designed to track and analyze social networks in classroom peer groups (Park et al., 2017). A total of 4,126 students (2,485 elementary school students and 1,641 high school students) participated and all variables were measured using the Peer Nomination Method in the current study. The major findings were as follows. First, prosocial traits and teacher-student support had a significant direct effect on bully defending behavior. Second, peer status had a direct effect on bully defending behavior. Third, peer status (popularity and social preference) mediated the relationship between prosocial traits, teacher-student support, and defending behavior. It implies that students who had a high level of prosocial traits and got support from their teacher possessed high status among peers, leading them to defend bully victims in school violence situations.
