국문 초록

이 논문은 19세기 초반에 기록된 『노상추일기』가 연구자료를 넘어, 산업적인 활용이 가능할지, 그리고 가능하다면 어떠한 방법으로 접근해야 할 지에 대해 논의하려는 목적을 가지고 기술되었다. 평생을 무관으로 살았던 선산 지방의 양반 노상추가 기록한 『노상추일기』는 약 70여 년에 이르는 일생에 대한 한 개인의 기록이다. 지역에서 양반으로 살아가는 일상의 삶으로부터, 무과에 합격하고 관료로 성장해 가는 삶의 양상까지 기록되어 있다. 그리고 60대 이후 낙향해서 다시 고향을 일구고 후대들의 삶을 기반을 만들어 가는 또 다른 평범한 일상을 그리고 있는 기록이기도 하다. 이 논문은 이러한 『노상추일기』가 전통기록자료에 기반한 스토리텔링 소재로서 매우 중요한 의미를 갖고 있다는 사실을 논증하고, 이를 통해 이러한 일기가 활용되기 위한 구체적인 방법을 찾아보려고 한다. 이를 위해 이 논문은 근래 일기류 기록자료가 전통 창작 소재로 활용되는 이유와 그 의미를 다시 정리하고, 그러한 기반 위에서 『노상추일기』가 가진 구체적인 내용 분석을 통해 그것이 스토리텔링의 소재로서 가지고 있는 중요한 특징들을 확인하게 될 것이다. 그리고 이것을 구체적으로 활용할 수 있는 방법에 대해 한국국학진흥원의 일기류 관련 가공 사업들의 예를 통해 살펴보고 있다. 이와 같은 논의를 통해 『노상추일기』가 일상적 삶을 복원해 낼 수 있는 소재로서 가능성이 매우 높다는 사실을 확인하게 될 것이다. 이러한 부분들은 대부분의 사람들이 ‘일상적 삶을 사는 사람들’이기 때문에 역사 속에서 ‘일상적 삶을 살았던 사람’에 대한 이야기가 원형소재로서 활용될 수 있는 가능성이 매우 높다는 사실을 의미하기도 한다. 이러한 기반 위에서 제대로 활용될 수 있는 구체적인 방법으로 전통 기록자료 전문가와 문화콘텐츠 전문가의 실질적인 협업을 제안하고 있다.

영문 초록

The goal of this paper is to discuss whether it is possible to utilize Roh Sang-chu’s Diary, which was written in the early 19th century, not only as research material but also for industrial purposes, and to figure out various approaches if possible. Roh Sang-chu was a nobleman from the Seonsan region, who lived his entire life as a military officer, and wrote “Roh Sang-chu’s Diary,” a personal journal of his 70-year long life. The diary is notable for featuring the daily life of a nobleman who grew up in the countryside, the later part of his life when he successfully passed a national exam and built a career as a military officer, and his day-to-day life during the time when he went back to his hometown to lay the foundation for future generations after he turned 60. The paper was written to examine the value of Roh Sang-chu’s Diary as a storytelling source based on traditional archival data that holds very significant value, and to look for specific approaches to its utilization. To this end, the paper discusses the reasons why diary-type archival data have recently been utilized as resources for traditional creations, and the meanings behind them. Based on this, a detailed analysis of the contents of the diary allows us to learn the major characteristics that the diary holds as a storytelling source. Following this, approaches to utilizing the diary are investigated by looking at examples of diary-based projects carried out by The Korean Studies Institute. It will be confirmed that Roh Sang-chu’s Diary has strong potential as a primary source on daily life. Since most people live “common, ordinary lives,” it also means that a historical story about “someone who lived an ordinary life” can have high applicability as a topic. Based on this, the paper suggests that experts in traditional archival data and in cultural contents should find practical approaches to cooperation through methods that the data can be properly utilized.
