국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 교양교육의 내용으로서 인문학의 필요성을 밝히고, 클레멘트 코스 운영안과 ‘교육’ 강의스쿨 강의안을 개발하는 것이다. 우리 교육의 현실에서는 대학 교육이 더 이상 상아탑의 경험이 아닌 취업지도와 기업의 입장을 반영하지 않을 수 없게 되었다. 이로 인한 대학의 교양교육은 취업에 유리한 과목들로 채워지고, 대학의 정체성을 담고 있는 교양교육과정의 변질은 최근 대학의 딜레마이다. 이러한 현실에서 대학 교양교육에서의 인문학의 역할의 중요성에 대한 인식이 높아지고 있다. 인문학은 인간과 인간 존재의 삶 자체를 성찰하기 때문에 실천과 불가분의 관계이다. 인문학은 교육의 본래 목적에 부합하는 가치창조와 관련되어 있다고 할 때, 대상에 대한 단순한 인식에 그치지 않고 끊임없이 대상을 비판하고 성찰을 모색한다. 이 논문은 가난한 이들을 대상으로 인문학 강의를 하여 ‘자기성찰적 삶’과 ‘자율성’, ‘비판적 사고’를 길러주어 자기와 외부 환경을 통찰하고 책임 있는 시민을 만드는 일로 전세계적인 반향을 일으키고 있는 클레멘트 코스를 지역민만이 아니라 대학생을 대상으로 하는 교육과정으로 만들어 대학들이 사용할 수 있도록 1차적으로 ‘대학생을 위한 클레멘트스쿨’과 동시에 지역민을 위한 과정을 만들어 제시하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to create the necessity of humanities as the method of general education and to develop the Clemente School management plan and curriculum as an educational method of humanities. Questions on nature of education regarding the human image that college education produces are at the center of debates these days. This leads to the reform and reorganization of general education which aims at raising “a genuine human”. However, in the reality of over 80% of students entering college in today s society, college education is no longer only the experience of ivory tower, but it also has to give students vocational guidance and consider the positions of corporations. As a result, general education courses are filled with the ones easy for employment. And the deterioration of the general education curriculum that contains the identity of the college is a dilemma. It is the deep agony about whether the humans the college education produces are the humans fit for what education intends for. In such a reality, the recognition on the importance of the role of humanities in college general education is increasing. Since humanities reflects humans and the their lives, it is in an inseparable relation with practice. This study will focus on studying the importance of Humanities in general education, name a course “the Clemente School” after the “Clemente Course”, which is a humanities lecture for the homeless/the poor by Earl Shoris, and present a tentative plan of a practical humanities lecture. The Clemente Course is creating a sensation worldwide and has been widely known as an effective program that helps the homeless develop thoughts on “self-reflective life”, “autonomy”, and “critical thinking”, and thus have an insight in the connection between themselves and the surrounding environment, and form a sense as a responsible citizen. Therefore in this study are introduced the two courses of the Clemente School curriculum, one humanities course, applying the Clemente course in the college curriculum for college students to prepare them as global leaders with good character and one for the local residents of communities.
