대학 봉사활동 비교 연구

국문 초록

지·덕·체를 겸비한 전인교육의 장으로 역할을 하는 봉사활동에 대한 대학들의 관심이 높아지면서 1996년 한국대학사회봉사협의회가 창립되었으며, 2009년 현재 207개의 대학이 회원교로 참여하고 있다. 회원교들은 최소 12시간에서 최대 400시간까지의 봉사시간을 규정하고 있으며 필수, 선택, 졸업요건 등 다양한 방식으로 봉사 관련 교과목을 운영하고 있다. 이러한 분위기와 맥을 같이하여 순천향대학교는 건학이념인 인간사랑을 실천하고 자기개발과 자아실현을 추구하며 지역사회와 공존하는 대학인을 양성하기 위한 방안의 하나로 2008년 신입생부터 60시간(사전교육 2시간, 봉사활동 56시간, 평가교육 2시간)의 봉사학습을 졸업 필수교과목으로 운영하고 있다. 교양교육원 봉사학습지원실을 전담기구로 두고 사회복지봉사활동 인증센터로 지정을 받아 봉사기관을 개발하고 협약을 체결하는 등 봉사학습 운영에 필요한 틀을 갖추고 정착시키기 위해 노력하고 있다. 결과 불과 3학기 동안 운영하였지만 약 1,400명의 학생들이 참여하여 14,400시간 가까운 봉사활동을 한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 내실 있는 봉사학습으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 전문적이고 체계적인 봉사학습프로그램개발, 봉사기관과의 유기적인 네트워크 구축, 봉사활동에 대한 인식 개선 등 다양한 활동을 적극적으로 추진하고 있다.

영문 초록

Since students’ interest in volunteer activities that serve as a place of whole person education with knowledge, virtue, and physical strength is growing, the Korean University Council For Social Service was established in 1996, and 207 universities are participating in it as member schools as of 2009. Member schools are operating courses related to volunteer work in various ways such as required courses, elective courses, and graduation requirements in case of volunteer working from the minimum 12 to maximum 400 hours. In line with this trend, Soonchunhyang University has been operating service learning of 60 hours(pre-education 2hr, volunteer work 56hr, evaluation education 2hr) as graduation required subject from the freshmen in 2008, as one of methods to cultivate graduates who practice love for human, foundation principal, pursue self-development and self-actualization, and coexist with a community. To settle the frame needed for operation of service learning and fix it, Soonchunhyang University installs a service learning center in the cultural educational institute as the professional facility and is authorized as the social welfare service center as well as develops the volunteer service center and concludes an agreement. As the result of its hard efforts, it shows despite, only three semesters operation, about 1,400 participants did volunteer work for around 14,400 hours. Soonchunhyang University is actively pursuing various activities such as development of professional and systematic service learning programs, construction of organic network with social service centers, and improvement of recognition on volunteer activities to position itself as the substantial service learning.
