기초교양으로서 생명과학 핵심개념의 이해를 위한 영상매체 활용

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국체육대학교 기초교양으로 개설된 ‘영화 속의 과학’을 바탕으로 현대를 살아가 는 지식인으로서 꼭 갖추어야 할 생명과학의 기본적 이해를 위한 주제를 선정하고, 각 영역별로 핵심 개념과 내용 요소, 이해에 보조적 역할을 할 수 있는 영상매체의 활용 방안을 소개하였다. 또한 각 핵심 개념과 관련된 과학-기술-사회의 관계를 통해서 토론해 볼 수 있는 통합적인 질문 을 제시하였다. 우주의 탄생에서부터 생명의 진화에 이르기까지 빅 히스토리를 제시하면서 비이 공계 학생들에게 자칫 딱딱하게 받아들여질 수 있는 생명과학의 핵심 개념들을 영상매체를 통 해 흥미를 끌어내고 그 과학적 원리를 풀어냄으로써 기초교양으로서 생명과학을 이해하는데 도 움을 주고자 하였다. 정보통신기술의 급격한 발달로 학생들은 멀티미디어 자료를 점점 더 친근하 게 생각한다. 멀티미디어 자료의 활용은 시대적 흐름을 반영하여 더 효과적인 정보 전달에 도움 을 줄 수 있다. 기초교양과학 교과목으로써 ‘영화 속의 과학’이 단순한 흥미 유발만을 위한 영상 매체 활용에 그치는 것이 아니라, 오늘날 사회 속에서 과학과 기술이 갖는 성격과 역할을 이해하 고, 과학과 기술과 사회와의 연관성에 대하여 다양한 관점을 경험하며, 과학과 관련된 사회적 논 쟁을 올바르게 이해하고 참여할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고자 한다. 따라서 과학적 원리를 이해하 고 그것이 이 사회의 구성원으로 살아가는데 필요한 지식이라고 깨닫고 습득하는데 영상매체가 동기를 부여하길 기대한다.

영문 초록

In this study, we selected topics based on ‘Science in Movie’ courses in the Korea National Sport University for basic understanding of life sciences. In each topic, the core concept, content element, and application method of multimedia were introduced. Integrated questions that can be discussed with the science-technology-society relations are also presented. A big history was presented from the birth of the universe to the evolution of life. Drawing the interest of life science through movie and showing its scientific principles with easy concept will be helpful to understand the life sciences for the students who did not major in science and engineering. With the rapid development of information and communication technology, students are becoming more and more familiar with multimedia materials. The usage of multimedia can transfer informations to the students effectively reflecting the trend of the times. It is not only for stimulating interests but also for understanding current relationship between technology and society. The students can also experience various perspectives on the connection between science, technology and society. Therefore, media contents can easily motivate the students to understand the minimum necessary scientific principles as members of this society.
