국문 초록

본 연구는 도박중독으로부터 회복 중인 사람들이 카지노 출입을 하지 않기로 결심한 다음에도 강원랜드 인근 지역을 떠나지 않는 현상에 주목하여 강원랜드 인근 단도박 장기체류자의 지역사회 경험의 본질적인 의미를 파악하기 위해 이루어졌다. 연구 참여자는 현재 1년 이상 단도박 상태로, 카지노 도박경력이 5년 이상인 동시에, 3년 이상 고한·사북지역에 거주하면서 이 지역을 준거집단으로 인식하고 지역에서 생업 및 지역 내 조직과 모임에 소속되어 활동 중인 성인 5명으로 구성되었다. 자료수집은 면대면 심층면접조사를 통해 전사록 형태로 이루어졌고, 수집된 자료는 Giorgi(1970; 1985)의 현상학적 방법으로 분석되었다. 분석 결과, ‘일상성 회복’, ‘자기 돌봄’, ‘유의미한 존재와 연결됨’, ‘사회적 인정’이라는 4개의 본질적 주제와 12개의 의미주제가 도출되었다. 도출된 주제를 구조적으로 통합한 결과, 강원랜드 인근 단도박 장기체류자의 지역사회 경험은 ‘일상성을 회복하는 과정에서 자기 돌봄과 유의미한 존재와의 연결됨을 통해 행복감을 느끼고 지역주민들로부터 사회적 인정을 받기 위해 “발버둥” 치기’로 정리되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 결론과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the phenomenon that people recovering from gambling addiction do not leave the area near Kangwonland even after they decide not to enter the casino, and try to understand the essential meaning of community experience of long-term gambling abstinence residents near Kangwonland. Participants in the study are 5 adults who have not been gambling for more than 1 year, who have been in casino gaming for more than 5 years and have lived in the Gohan·Sabuk area for more than 3 years and have been being active in community based organizations The data was collected in the form of transcripts through in-depth interviews, and the collected data were analyzed by Giorgi s phenomenological method. As a result of the analysis, 4 essential themes and 12 semantic topics were derived: ‘recovery of everydayness , ’self-care , ‘connected with significant other , and ’social recognition . As a result of the structural integration of the themes, the community experiences of long-term gambling abstinence residents near Kangwonland are in the process of restoring everydayness, they are “struggling” to feel happy and to receive social recognition from the other residents through self-care and connection with the significant other. Based on these findings, conclusions and suggestions for follow-up studies were suggested.
