국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 링컨 대통령의 유산 중 오늘날 우리가 본받을 만한 리더십의 지혜 몇 가지를 찾아보는데 있다. 이는 우리의 정치현실은 물론 생활전반을 윤택하게 하는데 실용적으로 활용할 수 있으리라 생각한다. 이글은 링컨이 보여 준 핵심적인 리더십의 지혜를 우리나라의 위대한 국왕인 세종대왕의 리더십의 지혜 몇몇에서 가져오는 방법을 적용했다. 링컨은 세종처럼 스스로를 자랑하지 않았고 다른 사람과의 관계에서 항상 겸손했다. 링컨은 세종처럼 집무실을 벗어나 현장에서 일을 했으며 다른 사람과 함께 솔루션을 찾고자 노력했다. 링컨은 세종처럼 다른 사람을 칭찬하고 신뢰함으로써 자신의 사람으로 만들었다. 링컨은 세종처럼 온 마음을 다하여 인재를 찾는데 노력했다. 링컨은 세종처럼 반대를 무릅쓰고서도 반드시 하고자 하는 목표를 달성하기 위해 노력했다. 링컨은 세종처럼 단점을 짧게 기억함으로써 용서와 관용으로 국가를 통합시켰다. 무엇보다 링컨은 국가와 국민과 인류 보편적 가치를 실현하는데 집중했다. 링컨에게는 상대 공화당과 북부와 노예제 반대자는 물론 민주당도 남부도 노예제 찬성자도 다함께 가야할 미국국민이었고 링컨은 미국의 대통령이었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to learn from the legacy that the president Abraham Lincoln has left us: the leadership and wisdom. The findings can be utilized not only in the field of politics but also in everyday life. The leadership of the president Lincoln has been compared to the one of the King Sejong. The president Lincoln, like the King Sejong did not boast of what he had done but tried to be humble all the time. Both the president Lincoln and the King Sejong did not work at the desk only but also work in the field and tried to find solutions with other people if the occasions demand. The president Lincoln, like the King Sejong had faithful servants who worked for them. The two leaders trusted their servants and always spoke highly of them. Another thing they have in common is that they endeavor to find talented people. Both the president Lincoln and the King Sejong tried to accomplish their goals in spite of the people who opposed to their ideas. Lastly, the president Lincoln, like the King Sejong integrated the nation with forgiveness and generosity. Above all, the president Lincoln focused on realizing the value of the country and people. Abraham Lincoln was the president of the United States of America where all different groups of people such as the Republican Party, the people in the North, the people who were against the slavery as well as the Democratic Party, the people in the South, the people who advocated the slavery dwell together.(Konyang University)
