국문 초록

본 논문은 요한복음 내에서 평행법과 역교차 구조가 얼마나 의미있게 사용되고 있는 지 살피고, 요한의 작법에 나타나는 병행 시스템을 범주화 시킬 것이다. 요한복음은 평범해 보이는 표현과 쉬운 어휘를 가지고 있으나, 문체의 복잡성(complexity), 중복되는 어구와 내용, 또 분간하기 어려운 구조(들) 등은 많은 아포리아스 (aporias)를 만들어낸다. 요한식 작법은 병행적인 사고의 틀에서 나온 것으로 연계된 쌍(짝)으로 소통하는 방식이다. 따라서 반복, 중복, 유사 부분 등, 서로 연계된 많은 아이디어와 표현들이 본문에 나타난다. 이들은 대부분 병행된 내용과 표현의 산출이다. 현대의 논리와 작법과 다르다. 병행적 저자 작법에 따른 타당성과 일관성을 놓치지 않고 있는 저자식(요한식) 본문으로 요한복음을 이해할 필요가 있다. 요한의 작법을 이해하는 것은 요한복음 내의 저자의 의도를 밝혀주는 것과 관련된다. 저자의 의도가 드러나는 것은 당연히 바른 해석과 직결된다. 부분적, 파편적 이해를 넘어서 병행적, 종합적(보완적) 해석을 할 수 있게 한다. 요한 작법을 이해할 때 요한의 생각을 알게 되고 그 글의 방향과 목적을 파악할 수 있다. 요한식 작법(병행법)의 이해는 이처럼 요한 본문을 좀더 적절하고 타당하게 해석하는 일로 귀결된다.

영문 초록

This work will consider how meaningfully John utilizes parallelism and chiasm in his Gospel, and will categorize the parallel system used in the Gospel of John. Whilst the Gospel of John seemingly contains plain expressions and easy words, it also produces many aporias which includes the stylistic complexity, the overlapped phrases and contents and the structure(s) not easily discerned. John’s style of composition is concerned with his communicating way as a cognitive process by the pairs linked to each other, which is the products of the contents and the expressions in parallel. Thus, it should be noted that John’s authorial style differs from modern linear way of composition, and so the attempts should be made to understand the Gospel of John in terms of the propriety and the cohesion expressed by parallelism and chiasm. This stylistic analysis will shed a new light to comprehend John’s original intention, and finally this will lead the reader to proper interpretations. Accordingly, beyond partial and fragmentary interpretations, the synthetical (complementary) hermeneutics, which includes understanding the authorial intentions through stylistic and structure analysis, is needed for appropriate comprehensions of the given text.
