국문 초록

본 연구는 2008년 창립된 <한국고지도연구학회>의 학술활동을 중심으로 최근 10년간 한국 고지도의 연구 동향과 문제점, 그리고 앞으로의 과제를 제시하고자 하였다. 고지도학회는 초기에 비교적 소규모로 창립되었지만 적극적인 학술 활동을 수행하였다. 학술대회는 고지도를 소장한 박물관·도서관과 연계하여 개최되었으며 이를 통해 국내·외 학자들과의 교류도 이루어졌다. 학회 논문집은 지속적인 발간을 통해 고지도 연구의 중심 학술지가 되었다. 관련 학회에서도 고지도 연구 논문이 적지 않게 발표되었다. 최근의 연구 주제는 지도 발달사 분야가 가장 많은 비중을 차지하며, 영토·영해 문제를 포함한 역사지리학 분야와 함께 회화사 분야의 논문이 발표되었다. 이외에 서지학 분야와 함께 풍수·지명 관련 연구가 진행되었다. 이 시기의 연구에서 두드러진 변화는 『대동여지도』 연구 경향의 변화이다. 이전에는 지도학적인 발달 측면에서 연구되었으나, 모사본을 비롯한 여러 판본들이 소개되었고, 목판의 수정 내용을 바탕으로 지도의 제작 단계와 사회에서 유통되는 내용이 연구되고 있다. 고지도의 연구 수준을 높이기 위해서 첫째로는 종래의 단순한 지도 소개의 차원을 극복하기 위해 ‘과학으로서의 고지도학’에 대한 깊은 성찰이 요구되며, 연구자들은 지도의 전문성을 높여야 한다. 둘째로는 고지도 연구의 현장인 소장 기관과의 협력 관계를 보다 긴밀히 해야 하며, 기관들의 연대를 유도하여 고지도 연구의 전문 인력 부족 문제를 해결해야 한다. 셋째로는 학회 창립의 모체가 된 문화재 지정사업의 재개와 연구자들의 전문 지식을 바탕으로 한 해외 고지도 조사사업의 실시를 위해 노력하여야 한다.

영문 초록

This study is to analyze the progress for the last 10 years and present the prospect of research of old map in Korea, focusing on the academic activities of the . This academic society was initially established at a relatively small scale, but actively engaged in academic activities. The conference was held in conjunction with museums and libraries with exchanges with domestic and overseas scholars. Academic journals have become a central space for high-level research through continuous publication. The popular topics covered in these papers are the cartographic development, along with the field of historical geography. In addition to the field of bibliography, research on feng-shui and place-names was conducted. A significant change in the research trend of this period is the study of 『Daedongyeojido』(大東輿地圖). In the past, it has been focused in terms of the cartography of maps, but with the introduction of several manuscripts editon, diffusion of map in society was analysed. The results of the analysis of the range of researches give many implications for the prospect of academic activities. In order to raise the level of research, a deep reflection on old map research as a science is required to overcome the level of conventional introduction of old map at first. Second, we need to cooperate more closely with institutes, and can solve the problem of lack of expert manpower in old map research by inducing institutions solidarity. Third, efforts should be made to resume the designation of cultural properties designated project of old map, and to carry out the project to investigate the old map in foreign countries.
