과학 실험수업에서 형성평가의 역할 탐색

국문 초록

최근 핵심역량이 강조됨에 따라 과학 교과에서는 학생이 자기주도적으로 참여하는 실험수업의 활용이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 선행연구들을 종합해보면 실험수업의 효과는 비일관적이며, 다양한 개인 및 환경적 요인에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 실험수업에서 교사가 제공하는 형성평가의 역할에 주목하여 실험수업이 성취 및 내적동기에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 형성평가의 구성요소인 피드백과 수업조정의 조절효과를 탐색하였다. 또한 PISA 2015 자료를 활용하여 한국, 싱가포르, 캐나다의 국가별 양상을 비교해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다층 구조방정식에 기반한 잠재적 조절효과 분석(Marsh, Wen, & Hau, 2004)을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 실험수업과 성취 및 내적동기 관계에서 형성평가의 조절효과 양상은 국가별로 상이하였다. 한국과 캐나다의 경우 학생들이 피드백을 많이 제공받는다고 인식할수록 실험수업이 성취에 미치는 부적 효과가 완화되는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 싱가포르의 경우 피드백을 적게 받는 집단에서 실험수업의 긍정적 효과가 보다 강하게 나타났다. 한편 수업조정의 조절효과는 한국에서만 유의하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 실험수업이 효과적으로 작용하기 위한 형성평가의 교육적 시사점 및 논의를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

As students core competencies recently have been emphasized, the science curriculum is encouraged to use student-directed laboratory instruction. However, based on the previous studies, the effects of the laboratory instruction were inconsistent and found to be affected by various personal and environmental factors. This study focused on the role of formative assessment(i.e., feedback, instruction adjustment) provided by teachers in laboratory instruction and explored their moderating effects. In addition, we conducted international comparison analysis of Korea, Singapore, and Canada using PISA 2015 data. For this purpose, latent moderating effects analysis(Marsh, Wen, & Hau, 2004) based on multi-level structural equation modeling was conducted. As a result, the moderating effects of the formative assessment differed by country. In Korea and Canada, the more formative assessment was provided, the weaker the negative effects of laboratory instruction on achievement. However, in Singapore, the positive effects of laboratory instruction were stronger in the low formative assessment group. The moderating effects of instruction adjustment were only significant in Korea. Lastly, based on the results of this study, educational implications and discussions for reinforcing the strength of laboratory instruction were suggested.
