국문 초록

Fast mapping 기술은 아동의 어휘력을 평가하고 중재하는 데 있어서 유용한 수단으로 간주되고 있으나 실증적 근거는 매우 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 그림동화책을 활용하여 학령전 단순언어장애 아동의 fast mapping 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 3-5세 단순언어장애 아동 10명과 언어연령 및 생활연령을 일치시킨 일반 아동 각 10명에게 fast mapping 과제를 실시하고, 전체 정반응 점수와 품사(명사와 동사)에 따른 정반응 점수를 산출한 다음, 비모수검정인 Kruskal-Wallis H test를 통해 집단 간 차이를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 첫째, fast mapping 과제에 대한 전체 점수는 세 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 단어의 품사에 따른 점수는 명사에서 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 사후 분석으로 Mann Whitney U test를 실시한 결과 단순언어장애 아동과 생활연령을 일치시킨 일반 아동 간에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해, 단순언어장애 아동은 언어능력이 유사한 일반 아동에 뒤지지 않는 fast mapping 기술을 지니고 있음을 확인하였다. 자연스러운 상황에서 언어를 배울 수 있는 맥락으로 그림동화책을 활용하는 구체적인 방법들을 모색할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The fast mapping skill is considered an important means of assessing and intervening children s vocabulary, but there is a lack of empirical evidence. This study was to investigate the fast mapping characteristics in preschool children with specific language impairments(SLI) using a picture book. To this end, fast mapping task is conducted on 10 children with SLI of 3-5 years and 10 typically developing children who matched their language age, and 10 typically developing children who matched chronological age. And then we calculated the total score and the scores according to the word type (noun and verb). Differences between the groups were examined through the nonparametric test, Kruskal-Wallis H test. As a result, first, there was no significant difference among the three groups in the total score for the fast mapping task. Second, the scores according to the word types showed significant differences between groups in nouns. The Mann Whitney U test showed that there was a significant difference between the children with SLI and the children who matched chronological age. This study confirmed that the children with SLI have fast mapping skills that is comparable to other children with similar language ability. It is necessary to find specific ways to use picture books as the natural context of acquiring language.
