국문 초록

영화 “보헤미안 랩소디”는 국내에서 2018년 10월 31일에 개봉하여, 천만 명에 가까운 9,948,386명이라는 관객을 동원하였다. 이는 국내에서 개봉한 음악영화 중 압도적인 1위에 해당하며, 2019년 9월을 기준으로 역대 외화 흥행 순위는 8위를 차지하였다. 영화 “Bohemian Rhapsody”의 제목은 영국의 록밴드 Queen을 대표하는 노래로, 보컬 프레디 머큐리(Freddie Mercury, 1946~1991)의 일대기를 그린 영화이다. 그런데 퀸의 곡들은 20세기에 발표한 노래임에도 불구하고 오늘날까지 과연 이렇게 인기 있는 이유가 무엇일까? 그에 대한 답변을 한마디로 하자면 좋은 음악이란 세대에 관한 경계가 없으며, 시대를 초월한다는 것이다. 퀸의 곡 중 히트한 노래는 많지만, 두 가지의 관점에서 분석할 곡을 선정하였다. 이 연구에서 분석할 “Don’t stop me now”는 영화 “보헤미안 랩소디”의 엔딩 크레딧(Ending Credit)에 사용되었다. 음악의 형식을 중심으로 이 곡에 사용된 코드 패턴과 화성, 보컬과 코러스와 기타의 멜로디를 모두 분석할 것이다. 이 논문을 통하여 이제까지 학술적으로 분석하지 않은 퀸의 다른 노래들을 연구하는 계기가 되었으면 한다.

영문 초록

The movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” was released in Korea on October 31, 2018, attracting nearly 10 million viewers, really 9,948,386. This is the number one music film released in Korea, and is currently ranked 8th in the rankings of foreign films as of September 2019. The title of the film, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, corresponds to a song representing the British rock band Queen, which is a film about the life of Queen’s vocalist Freddie Mercury. Why are the songs of 20th century so popular among today’s audiences? I have a question. In short, truly good music can span generations and transcend time. Queen’s song is very popular with the public, but I chose to analyze from two perspectives. “Don’t stop me now” was used in the ending credits for the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Based on the format of the music, I will analyze all the chord patterns and harmonies, vocal and chorus and guitar melodies. I hope this paper will be an opportunity to actively study other songs of Queen that have not been analyzed so far academically.
