경인 김문현 서예의 가치탐구

국문 초록

김문현은 일제강점기 때 필명을 날린 서예가다. 한글궁체를 현대화하는데 기여하였을 뿐 아니라 집안에서 내려오는 가학서예를 전승한 바탕위에 중국서예를 받아들여 새로운 경지를 열었다. 한동안 가정사정으로 인해 서예에 전념하지 못하다가 1958년 동방연서회 창립을 기점으로 그곳에서 서예지도를 하면서 다시 서예활동을 시작한다. 김문현은 직업서예가로 활동했다기보다는 교양적인 취미로서의 서예를 했다. 그러면서도 그를 거론하지 않을 수 없는 것은 그의 서예정신이 갖는 가치와 의미 때문이다. 오늘날의 서예는 외형적인 조형과 기법을 논하는 사람은 많아도 작품 속에 담긴 서예의 정신을 이야기하려 하지 않는다. 그것은 전통적으로 이어져 내려오는 서예의 문인정신이 희석되었기 때문이다. 그런 견지에서 볼 때 높은 학문과 교양 그리고 서예의 탐구정신이 잘 조화를 이루었던 김문현의 서예는 논의할 가치가 많다. 김문현은 20세기 한국서예의 거장 김충현과 김응현의 맏형으로 동생들에 비해 세상에 알려지지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 김문현이 아우들 못지않게 근현대서예사에서 차지하는 비중이 크다는 것을 피력하고자 했다.

영문 초록

Kim Moon-hyun is a calligrapher who distinguished himself as a calligrapher during the Japanese colonial period. He not only contributed to modernizing the Korean Gung style but also accepted the Chinese calligraphy based on the calligraphy which had been passed down for generation to create the new world for calligraphy. After failing to concentrate on calligraphy due to family affairs for a while, he started calligraphy activities again in 1957, starting with the founding of the Eastern Calligraphy Society. Kim Moon-hyun did calligraphy as a sophisticated hobby rather than as a career artist. However, we cannot help but to mention him because of the value and meaning of his calligraphy spirit. In Today s calligraphy, many people talk about outer shape and technique but the spirit of calligraphy contained in the work are not discussed. That s because the literary spirit of traditional calligraphy has been diluted. In this aspect, Kim Moon-hyun s calligraphy in which high academic, cultural, and calligraphic spirit are harmonized, is worth discussing. Kim Moon-hyun who was the eldest brother of 20th century Korean calligraphy masters Kim Chung-hyun and Kim Eung-hyun is not well known compared to his brothers. In this paper, we tried to express that Kim Moon-hyun has as much weight in modern calligraphy as his brother.
