공동 의사결정을 매개로 한 맞벌이 부부의 상대소득과 결혼만족의 구조모형 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 상대적 자원 관점을 적용하여 맞벌이 부부의 상대소득이 부부 공동 의사결정을 통해 결혼만족에 영향을 미치는 경로모형을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 한국여성정책연구원의 여성가족패널 4차(2014년), 5차(2016년), 6차(2018년) 자료를 사용한 구조방정식 모형을 분석하였다. 연구대상은 4, 5, 6차 조사에서 모두 맞벌이 부부라고 보고한 여성 배우자 997명이다. 부부 공동 의사결정은 자신과 배우자의 경제활동, 자녀 교육, 자산 관리 등 8개 가족생활영역에 대한 의사결정을 부부가 함께 한다고 응답한 영역의 비중이다. 독립변수인 상대적 소득은 각 배우자의 소득 간 균형을 의미하며, 부부 공동 의사결정 및 결혼 만족과 비선형적 관계를 보일 것으로 가정하여 제곱항을 투입하였다. 연구 결과, 부부의 상대소득이 공동 의사결정을 통해 결혼 만족에 영향을 미치는 비선형적 매개효과가 유의하였다. 즉, 맞벌이 부부의 배우자 간 소득이 균형을 이룰수록 공동 의사결정 수준이 높아지고, 높아진 공동 의사결정 수준이 결혼만족에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 경로가 유의하였다. 본 연구는 배우자 간 소득균형이 부부관계의 질적 측면에 영향을 미치는 메커니즘을 조명하였다는 의의를 갖는다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between relative income and marital satisfaction among dual-income couples mediated by joint decision making. Using the three waves of Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Family (KLoWF), structural equation model with nonlinear relationship was applied. The sample of this study includes 997 female partners of dual income couples who participated in the three consecutive waves of the panel (year 2014, 2016, 2018). Joint decision making was measured by the degree of the area in which the husbands and wives reported to make joint decisions among eight family life issues including economic participation, child education, and asset management. The results of this study suggest that the relationship between relative income and marital satisfaction was mediated by joint decision making. And the relationship between independent and mediating variables showed non-linear pattern. This implies that dual-income couples with balanced income ratio between wives and husbands would enjoy higher levels of joint decision making and marital satisfaction. This study has its meanings in highlighting the mechanisms of the influence of relative income on marital quality through couple’s joint decision making.
