국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 칼 바르트(1886-1968)가 주창하는 “모이는 기독교공동체” (The Gathering Christian Community)로서의 교회 개념을 정리-분석하므로, 21세기 현대 기독교공동체들이 추구해야 할 예수 그리스도 지체들로서의 그 진정한 정체성과 본질과 그리고 그에 따른 세상 안에서의 사명들과 책임들을 제안하기 위함이다. 따라서 본 논문은 예수 그리스도 안에 계시되고(Revealed) 기록되어(Written) 선포된(Spoken) 그 삼위일체 하나님 말씀진리의 현재적인 역사성과 실존성을 강조하는 바르트의 그리스도 중심적인 신학(Christocentric theology)을 바탕으로, 교회들의 왜곡된 정치참여를 강하게 비판하며 기독교공동체인 교회는 온전히 예수 그리스도의 건강한 지체가 되어야 함을 강조하는 바르트의 교회론을 소개했다. 또한 교회공동체들의 급진적인 세속화를 거부하며 기독교 신앙의 본질은 이 지상의 모든 교회들이 자신들의 머리가 되시는 그 예수 그리스도를 메시아로 선포하며 동시에 각 신자들은 자신들의 삶 속에서 그 예수 그리스도의 가르침을 적극적으로 실천하므로 기독교복음진리의 보편성은 객관화 될 수 있고, 이를 통해 비기독교인들을 향한 복음전도(Evangelism) 역시 효과적일 수 있음을 주창하는 바르트의 “모이는 기독교공동체”로서의 그 교회 개념을 본 논문은 다음과 같이 정리-분석-소개했다: (1) 지상적이며 역사적인 인간조직으로서의 교회(The Church as an earthly-historical human construct); (2) 덕을 함양하는 기독교공동체로서의 교회(The Church as the edified community); (3) 예배모임에 충실하나 기독교공동체로서의 교회(The Church in the Christian worship service); 그리고 (4) 은총의 시간 한가운데에 있는 기독교공동체로서의 교회(The Christian community in the time of grace)

영문 초록

The primary purpose of this paper is to explore Karl Barth(1886-1968)’s doctrine of the Church by focusing on his concept of the “Gathering Christian Community." In particular, this paper examines how Barth understands the genuine identity and nature of the Church as the earthly and historical body of Jesus Christ in terms of her given task and responsibility as the faithful Christian community in this world. Accordingly, this paper pinpoints Barth' s Christocentric theology, which not only emphasizes the Revealed, the Written, and the Spoken Word of the Truth of God in His Son Jesus Christ, but also its attribute as the present historicity and existence for the accomplishment of the perfect salvation in this world. At this point, this paper analyzes Barth' s theory-praxis balanced theological characteristic that is radically Christocentric and urging the Christian community to be absolutely faithful in executing the task of evangelism and foreign mission. Therefore, this paper discusses comprehensively Barth's concept of the Church as the Gathering Christian community as follows: (1) The Church as an earthly historical human construct; (2) The Church as the edified community; (3) The Church in the Christian worship service; and (4) The Christian community in the time of grace.
