국문 초록

본 논문은 가난한 이들의 교회가 가난한 이들을 위해서 뿐만 아니라 교회자신을 위해서도 중요하다는 것을, '가난한 이들의 교회'와 '거룩하면서도 항상 정화되어야 하는 교회'를 연결시키고 있는 교회헌장 8c를 전제로, 교회헌장 5장 특히 41항에 주목하여 연구하였다. 제2차 바티칸 공의회는 수도자나 성직자만이 아니라 교회 안의 모든 구성원들이 거룩함에의 소명을 받았음을 선언하였고, 특히 가난한 사람들이 가난한 그리스도와 결합되어 있고, 또 그들 안에서 그리스도 자신이 거룩함을 완성시켜주실 것이기 때문에 그 거룩함이 교회 안에서 특별한 자리를 차지함을 선언하였다. 교회는 이들이 자신들의 이러한 정체성을 인식하고 사랑 안에서 완전한 거룩함에 도달하게 하기 위하여 필요한데, 그러기 위해서는 자신의 가난한 창립자를 본받아 가난한 이들의 교회이어야 한다. 교회는 이렇게 할 때 믿음과 희망과 사랑의 증언으로 '구원의 보편적 성사, 하느님과, 그리고 사람들 사이의 코이노니아의 표징이요 도구'로서의 역할을 수행할 수 있고, 그 얼굴에 그리스도의 빛이 더욱 빛나게 할 것이며, 자신의 본질과 사명을 흐리게 하는 모든 어두움으로부터 정화되면서 거룩함의 종말론적 완성을 향해 나아갈 것이다. 이런 의미에서 가난한 이들의 교회는 거룩하면서도 항상 정화되어야 하는 교회가 지향해야 할 탁월한 구체적 모델이다.

영문 초록

This research attempts to verify the importance of the "Church of the poor" not only to the poor but also to the Church herself. In order to clarify the relationship between the two themes of LG 8c, "the Church of the poor" and "Church, holy and in need of being purified", the research is concentrated on the Chapter V of LG, in particular LG 41 where the theme of holiness and that of the poor are connected. The Vatican Council II declared that not only certain people such as priests and religious, but all the members of the Church are called to holiness. Also, according to this Council, the poor take the privileged place in the Church about the holiness, because they have particular relationship with Christ, who will lead them to the perfection of their holiness. The Church serves the poor so that they recognize their such identity and grow in holiness. To fulfill this mission, the Church should be the "Church of the poor", following the example of her poor Founder. This church can bear witness to the faith, hope and charity, so she is the sign and the instrument of communion with God and among people, and she can realize her identity as the universal sacrament of Salvation. In this way continually being purified from all the impurities that obscure her nature and mission received from Christ, the Church can move towards the eschatological fulfillment of holiness. In this sense, the Church of the poor is a model, par excellence, for the "Church, holy and in need of being purified."
