사진과 기독교 신앙 교육 ― 생애 주기를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 글은 사진이 생애 주기와 밀접한 관계가 있다고 보고 신앙의 순례이기도 한 인간 삶에서 사진이 기독교 신앙에 어떻게 기여할 수 있는지를 탐색한 글이다. 이와 같은 목적에서 이 글은 먼저 생애 주기와 사진의 관계, 그리고 그 함의를 다루고, 이어서 그 같은 내용들이 교회의 교육을 통해서 신자들의 신앙을 성장시키는 일에 어떻게 기여할 수 있는 지에 대해 모색해보았다. 그 내용들을 간략하게 언급하면 다음과 같다. 사진은 생의 주기마다 고유한 형태를 띠고 등장한다. 이 경우 교육적 적용을 위해 사진의 함의가 무엇인지 우선 알 필요가 있다. 어렸을 때는 부모 등의 성인의 피사체로서, 학령기에 접어들어 중등학교를 졸업할 때까지 학교라는 조직과 생활의 필요에 따라 수동적 성격의 사진을 찍히게 된다. 베이비부머 세대의 뒤를 이은 밀레니엄 세대는 자기에 대한 관심이 무척 큰데 그 표출 현상 중의 하나는 ‘셀카’라는 사진찍기 유행이다. 결혼적령기가 되면 결혼사진을 찍으면서 사회문화적 관습에 더욱 동화되어 간다. 가족이 생기면 가족의 유지와 위안을 얻기 위해 사진을 찍지만 형식적이어서 가족의 정체성을 드러내지는 못한다. 생을 마감할 때 준비 하는 것 중의 하나가 영정사진이다. 영정사진은 삶과 죽음을 이어주는 교량적 신비이지만, 죽음보다는 사진 속 인물의 삶을 상기하게 된다. 이처럼 생애 주기에서 신앙 성장의 계기를 제공하는 사진은 교회교육에서 거의 언급되지 않았다. 교회는 사진 이미지를 이용해 신자들 사이에 소통을 늘릴 수 있으며, 어린이의 재능이나 청소년의 정체성 발견을 도울 수 있다. 신앙 공동체의 가족 개념을 넓힐 수도 있고, 무엇보다 교회의 사명을 돕는데 효과적으로 활용할 수도 있다. 무심코 지나쳤던 사진은 생애 주기와 긴밀하며, 교회는 교육을 통해 신자들의 신앙 성장을 위해 사진이 주는 유익을 취할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Photo around us is closely related to the life cycle. This article explores how the photograph contribute to the Christian faith in the life cycle as pilgrimage of faith. In these views this article first discusses the relationship between the life cycle and the photographs, its implications. Then how these contents can contribute to the growth of the faith of believers through the church education is explored. Brief reference to the contents are as follows. Photographs as unique forms appear in the life cycle. It is necessary to know what the implications of the photographs in these periods for educational applications. Children are taken pictures in their period as a subject by adult such as a parent. They are taken passive nature pictures to meet the needs of their school system from elementary to secondary school. Millennium generation succeeded baby boom generation is very interested in his self. It is expressed out as selfie phenomenon. The marriageable age people are assimilated into the social and cultural customs taking the wedding photos. Formal family photographs are taken to obtain maintenance and comfort of the family but they do not present the identity of the family. Photographic portrait is one of things for preparing death. The portrait is a mystery connecting life and death and recalls us the life of the people in the picture. It is the presence of the dead. Photo characterized such that human development is hardly mentioned in the Church Educational System. The church can increase the communication among believers by using the photo images and it can help discover the talented intelligences of children and the identity of youth. Futhermore, the church can do expand the concept of family in the community of faith. And the photography can be more effectively utilized to assist the missions of the church.
