천년왕국(계 20:4-6)의 정치적 해석의 가능성

국문 초록

본 논문은 대부분의 한국 교회가 견지하고 있는 세대주의적 종말론의 입장을 근거로 계 20:4-6절을 전천년왕국설로 이해하는 것이 본문이 말하려는 원래의 의도에 부합되는지를 밝히는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 먼저 세대주의적인 종말론이 주장하는 전천년설 중심의 계 20:4-6절 해석의 신학적인 오류를 밝힌 후에, 천년왕국에 대한 본문을 전승사적으로 설명하고, 이어서 중요한 신학자들이 본문을 어떻게 해석하였는지를 분석한 후에 요한계시록이 갖고 있는 반제국주의적 저항문서의 성격을 근간으로 본문을 주석하여 본문의 본래적 의미를 제시하고자 한다. 해석사와 전승사를 근거로 본문을 주석한 결과 20:4-6절에 나오는 천년왕국은 세대주의 종말론자들이 주장하는 것처럼 인류 역사의 마지막 시간표(예수 그리스도의 공중 재림 → 교회의 휴거 및 어린 양의 혼인 잔치 → 지상에서 마지막 대 환란과 적그리스도의 통치 → 예수 그리스도의 지상 재림과 사탄의 결박 → 천년왕국)를 만들기 위해서 사용된 것이 아니라 하나님의 말씀과 예수 그리스도의 증거 때문에 억울하게 죽은 순교자들에게 보상으로 주어진 상급이며, 로마제국이 Pax-Romana라는 통치이념으로 온 세상에서 휘두르 는 폭력적인 지배체제와는 대조적으로 그리스도 안에서 누리는 형제애를 바탕으로 하는 횡적공동체, 즉 지배 없는 지배체제를 통해서 이 땅에 실현하려는 평화의 나라에 대한 희망을 의미한다. 따라서 힘의 논리에 의한 지배이데 올로기를 상징하는 Pax-Romana의 대항현실로서 천년왕국은 계층 간의 반목과 갈등이 극복된 화해의 공동체로서 사회적 양극화 현상을 극복할 수 있는 신학적 비전을 제시해 준다.

영문 초록

Through this paper I will show the original meaning and role of Rev 20:4-6 to the most korean churches which agree absolutely with the Dispensational Premillennialism. I will primarily demonstrate that the eschatological scenario of the Dispensational Premillennialism results from the false interpretation of the text by means of the biblical literalism. And then the Text will be analysed from the point of the tradition criticism’s view and with the aid of the history of the interpretation of the Revelation in order to inquire the original meaning of Rev 20:4-6. Furthermore this text will be interpreted based on the peculiarity of the apocalyptic literature which the Book of Revelation as a resistance literature or a counter-imperial-script has. The result of the historical-critical exegesis of this text indicates, that the author of the last book of the bible does not intend to describe a eschatological scenario of the world by means of the diverse visions, but a Counter-Reality against Pax-Romana representing the brute force ruling system. While the ruling system of the Roman Empire is violent, satanic and exploitative, the millenarianism represents the ruling system with nonviolence as the community of the brothers in which the brute force of the Roman Empire is broken. They are exactly the opposites. The millenarianism is the reward for those, who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. It is also for those, who had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. Thereby the martyrs rehabilitate themselves.
