국문 초록

현재까지 기존 문헌에서 서비스 생산성을 측정하기 위한 다양한 접근방법들은 보편성을 지니고 있지 못한데, 이는 서비스가 무형성 및 생산과 소비의 동시성이라는 특성을 지니는 한편 서비스 산업이 가치를 창출하는 과정에서 서비스 공급자와 함께 고객의 참여에 따른 이질성 때문이다. 이에 따라 기존의 생산성 측정에 기반이 되어왔던 제조 산업에서의 생산성 측정과는 달리 서비스 산업 특유의 서비스 생산성을 어떻게 측정하고 평가할 것인가에 대한 문제가 주요 연구주제가 되어 왔으며, 이는 결과적으로 제조 산업에서와 마찬가지로 서비스 산업 내 조직이, 그리고 서비스를 제공하는 조직이 서비스 생산성을 어떻게 향상시킬 수 있는가와 같은 문제와 이어진다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 서비스 생산성에 관한 기존 문헌들을 조사, 평가, 그리고 통합한 후, 서비스 효율성 및 운영 효율성에 대한 정의 및 모형 설정을 기반으로 서비스의 이질성이 서비스 생산성의 측정의 유용성을 감소시킬 필요가 없음을 확인하고, 이로부터 서비스 생산성을 측정하기 위한 보편적 모형을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 서비스 효율성, 운영 효율성, 그리고 서비스 생산성을 구성하는 차원들을 도출하며, 서비스 생산성을 측정하기 위한 모형을 제시한 후, 이들 모형을 물류서비스 부문에 적용하여 분석한다. 본 논문은 물류서비스 부문의 생산성에 대한 추가적 연구의 필요성을 제시함으로써, 물류서비스와 같은 상품 특성을 지닌 조직이 서비스 생산성의 구조와 과정을 이해하기 위한 효과적 방법으로 확장될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Until now, there exists no universal approach for measuring the productivity of services. Various factors have different impacts on service productivity, ranging from the relationship between service providers and customers to service quality. Measuring performance in services has proven difficult largely due to the fact that production and sales occur simultaneously and because the services provided are heterogeneous. The purpose of this paper is to analyse, evaluate, and integrate the results of prior research on service productivity by developing measurement models. This paper shows that the simultaneity and heterogeneity of services need not detract from the usefulness of performance indicators. A discussion summarizing desirable and undesirable components of service efficiency and productivity indicators is included, measurement models are proposed, and then applies these models for a logistics service sector. Using this new approach on simultaneity and heterogeneity, services will be able to better track and improve performance in logistics industry. As our final result, this paper develops an agenda for further research on the productivity of logistics services.
