분청사기의 명문 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 조선 초기 태종과 세종 연간에 전성기를 이루었던 분청사기 기물표면의 의장과 명문(銘文)에 관한 내용이다. 명문이란 분청사기표면에 다양한 문양장식과 함께 상감기법으로 왕조의 관서나 지방의 군, 현의 이름을 새겨 넣은 것을 말한다. 본 논문에서는 합천군 장대리 도요지 발굴 시 출토된 분청사기 유물 파편 가운데 경승부(敬承府), 사선(司膳), 인수부(仁壽府), 장흥고(長興庫), 삼가(三嘉) 등 한자가 새겨진 사기 파편에 주목하고 이러한 기물 내ㆍ외면에 명문이 새겨지게 된 동기와 그 시기를 고려사, 조선왕조실록, 세종실록지리지의 내용을 참고하여 논술하였다. 경승부명 분청사기는 현재까지 4점이 전세 되어왔으나 그 출토지역을 알 수 없었다. 최근 들어 장대리 도요지에서 소성에 실패한 파편이 폐기장에서 최초로 발굴됨에 따라 경승부명 분청사기는 장대리에서 제작되었다는 개연성을 가지게 되었다. 그러므로 지금까지 전세되어 온 4점의 경승부명 유물표면에 시문된 문양구성과 명문 서체의 특징을 장대리 출토 경승부명 파편들과 비교ㆍ분석함으로써 전세된 경승부명 분청사기의 생산연대는 1417년 4월-1418년 6월로 한정되며 그 생산지는 오늘날 경상남도 합천군 가회면 장대리라는 사실을 논증한 내용이다.

영문 초록

This study is about the designs and inscriptions on the surfaces of Buncheong Sagi articles, which were in their heyday during the reigns of Taejong and Sejong in the early days of Joseon Dynasty. An inscription refers to the name of a government office of the dynasty or provincial country or township engraved on the surface of Buncheong Sagi with the inlaying technique. In this paper, taking note of those porcelain fragments inlaid with Chinese characters such as Kyungseung-bu, Sason, Insu-bu, Jangheungo, and Samga among the fragments of the Buncheong Sagi relics excavated when the kiln sites in Jangdae-ri, Hapcheon-gun was being dug, the motives and times of inlaying such inscriptions on the inner and outer surfaces of the articles were stated referring to the contents of Goryosa, the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, and the geography in the record of King Sejong. Although four pieces of Buncheong Sagi with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu have been handed down until now, the findspot could not be known. As fragments of Buncheong Sagi with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu after failure in firing were excavated for the first time in the dump site of Jangdae-ri kiln sites recently, the probability of the fabrication of Buncheong Sagi with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu in Jangdae-ri became to be raised. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed the composition of the patterns stamped and inlaid on the surface of the four pieces relics with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu that have been handed down thus far and the characteristics of the font of the inscriptions with those on the fragments with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu excavated in Jangdae-ri to prove that the time of production of the pieces of Buncheong Sagi with the inscription of Kyungseung-bu that have been handed down is limited to April 1417-June 1418 and the production site is Jangdae-ri, Gahoe-myeon, Hapcheon-gun.
