상호주체성과 공존의 시각에서 본 《 紅樓夢 》 의 ‘情’ *

국문 초록

주지하듯 《紅樓夢》은 실로 풍부한 내용과 함의를 담은 작품이지만, 작가는 작품의 핵심에 대해서 대체로 ‘情’에 대해 이야기했다고 분명하게 개괄한 바 있다. 한편, 작가는 기존의 서사, 특히 才子佳人 서사에 대해 비판적 시각을 거듭 드러내며 《홍루몽》이 그것들과는 확연히 차별화된 작품임을 시사하고 있다. 그렇다면 작가는 과연 기존의 재자가인류 소설 등과는 다른 어떤 ‘정’을 그려내고자 했으며, 그것은 어떤 함의와 가치를 지니는 것인가. 본고는 오늘날 우리 사회가 욕망은 넘쳐나지만 정작 개인은 소외되고 병들어있는 현실에 대한 문제 의식에서 출발하여 《홍루몽》의 ‘정’에 대한 하나의 재해석을 시도해보고자 한다. 곧 일종의 존재론적, 관계론적 시각에서 ‘相互主體性’과 ‘共存’이라는 키워드를 중심으로 賈寶玉의 林黛 玉과의 知己之情, 여성 및 하층민에 대한 시각 등을 살펴보고자 하며, 이를 통해 읽어낼 수있는 사회적 의미와 인문적 함의를 새롭게 드러내보고자 하는 것이다. 물론 이러한 접근이 내용적으로 전혀 새로운 것일 수는 없겠으나, 하나의 ‘다시 읽기’ 차원에서 《홍루몽》의 인문적 가치를 오늘에 되새기는 시대적 독법으로서 일정한 의미를 가질 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

As everyone knows, Hongloumeng(紅樓夢) is a work containing the plentiful contents and implications while the author clearly summarized that the point of work was to talk about ‘qing(情)’. Meanwhile, repeatedly showing the critical viewpoint on the existing narrative, especially the narrative of ‘gifted scholars and beautiful ladies’, the author suggests that Hongloumeng is certainly a work differentiated from them. Then what kind of ‘qing’ different from the existing Chinese scholar & beauty novels did the author aim to describe, and what are the implications and values of it? Starting from a critical mind of the reality where individuals are alienated and sick even when the current society is filled with desires, this paper aimed to reinterpret ‘qing’ of Hongloumeng. In other words, focusing on keywords like ‘intersubjectivity’ and ‘coexistence’ in the ontological/relational perspective, it aimed to examine Jia Baoyu’s feeling of confidant with Lin Daiyu, and the perspective on women/lower-class people, and also to newly reveal the social meanings and humanistic implications. Even though this approach may not be something new in the aspect of contents, it could be meaningful as a reading method of the time to meditate the humanistic value of Hongloumeng in the level of ‘Re-reading’.
