국문 초록

국가 간의 교류가 활발해짐에 따라 상호 의존성이 점차 높아지고 있고, 주변부에 대한 관심과 더불어 서구 중심주의 극복에 대한 노력이 강화되고 있다. 이러한 사회 변화 속도에 비하여 인식의 변화 속도는 더디기 때문에 인식의 변화를 가능하게 하는 교육의 역할은 무엇보다 중요하다. 이에 본 연구는 세계화 시대의 세계 문학교육에서의 문제점을 밝히고, 세계 시민 교육 관점에서의 문학교육의 방향을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 문학은 사람들이 살아가는 삶의 모습을 담고 있기 때문에 동질감 확보의 통로로 기능할 수 있다. 그러나 다양성의 시대에 동질감을 확보할 수 있는 이러한 문학의 기능에 비하여 세계 문학교육은 다양성을 반영하지 못하고 있는 것이 사실이다. 문학 교과서의 작품들은 여전히 서구 중심적이며, 상대적으로 타자적 위치에 있는 동아시아 문화의 가치에 대한 고려가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 또한 교과서의 활동들 역시 이러한 다양한 세계 문화를 간접 체험하는 데에 한계를 드러내 학습자들의 인식을 확장하는 데에 기여하지 못한다. 따라서 서구에 편향된 시각에서 벗어나 동아시아 문화의 가치를 되새기고, 다양한 문화 체험의 기회를 확대할 수 있도록 문학교육이 이루어져야 한다. 동아시아의 문화는 단체와 집단 중시, 유교 문화를 기반에 둔 타자 이해, 배려 , 관용 등의 문화 특성을 지닌다. 이는 문화적 차이를 인정하고, 다양성을 추구하며 세계 사회의 구성원으로서의 역할 수행 등을 목표로 하는 세계 교육의 관점과 상통하는 부분이 있다. 본 연구가 제시하는 세계 시민 교육 관점에서의 문학교육의 방향 탐색은 다원화된 사회에서 동아시아 문화의 가치를 되새기고, 다양성을 중심으로 세계 문학을 교육하는 출발점이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

As exchanges between countries become more active, interdependence is increasing, and efforts to overcome Western nationalism are being strengthened along with interest in the periphery. The purpose of this study is to identify problems in world literature education in the era of globalization and to explore the direction of literature education in terms of global citizenship education. Literature can serve as a channel for securing a sense of homogeneity because it contains the life of people. However, it is true that the world literature education does not reflect diversity compared to these literary functions in which a sense of homogeneity can be attained in the age of diversity. The works of literature textbooks are still western-centered and have no consideration for the values of East Asian culture. Also, the activities of textbooks show limitations in indirectly experiencing these diverse world cultures, which do not contribute to expanding the perception of learners. As a result, literature education should be provided so that the East Asian culture views should be changed from a biased perspective and the opportunities for diverse cultural experiences can be expanded. The culture of East Asia has cultural characteristics such as group and group values, understanding of batters, consideration, and tolerance based on Confucian culture. This is in line with the view of global education aimed at recognizing cultural differences, pursuing diversity and playing a role as a member of the global society. The exploration of the values of East Asian culture as a starting point of world citizenship education through literature education proposed by this research is to reflect the values of East Asian culture in a pluralistic society.
