국문 초록

이 연구는 직장인 야학 자원봉사교사의 경험을 이해하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 직업이 있으면서 경남 G시 G야학에서 자원봉사교사로 활동하고 있는 야학교사 8명을 대상으로 개별 심층면담을 실시하여 다음과같은 연구결과를 도출하였다. 먼저, G야학은 현재 G야학의 교장이 사회적 실천의 한 일환으로 설립하였으며, G야학교사들은 평소 교직과 사회봉사에 대한 관심이 많은 사람들로서 지인의 권유 또는 자발적인 참여의사로 야학교사가 되었다. 다음으로, G야학교사들은 성인학습자들의 눈높이에 맞는 교육을 위해 배우는 것을 꺼려하지 않으며, 다양한 수업전략을 구사하기 위해 끊임없이 노력하며, 그리고 경쟁적인 가르침의 열정을 통해 배움의 장을 형성하는 것으로 가르치는 자로서의 열정을 쏟아내고 있었다. 마지막으로, 야학교사로서의 경험은 삶의 변화와 의미를 이끄는 추동력이 되었다. 교사들은 성인학습자들을 가르치면서 그들의 삶으로부터 배려와 내적 성장을 키우게 되었으며, 동료교사들로부터는 인격적 성숙을 경험하게 되었고, 자녀들에게는 자랑스러운 롤 모델이 되었다. 이러한 변화는 삶에 대한 태도와 가치관의 변화에서 비롯된 것으로 ‘함께’ 그리고 ‘나눔’의 중요성을 깨닫게 했다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to understand the experience of the night school volunteer teachers with a job. For this purpose, the study conducted in-depth individual interviews with eight night school volunteer teachers with a job from the same school in the Gyeongnam G area. First, the study found that G night school was established as part of a social practice by the principal, and their motivation to work as volunteer teachers was originally due to their interest in teaching and community service, and they were recommended to help by an acquaintance or simply volunteered to work. Next, the study found the three faces of volunteer teachers’ passion for their volunteer works. Their passion motived them to improve their teaching practice by providing more personalized education. And they were expressing this passion as a teacher to form a field of learning through the passion of competitive teaching. Lastly, the study found that their experience as a night school teacher worked as a driving force for changing their life. Teachers who have taught adult learners developed increased care and inner growth from their lives, from fellow teachers, experienced personal maturity, and became a proud role model to children. In the end, these efforts led to a positive change in life of both themselves and their students. These changes came from the changes in attitudes and values of life, which made them realize the importance of together and sharing .
