포유자돈 설사에 있어서 콕시듐 원충과 대장균 감염의 상관 관계

국문 초록

이상의 결과를 토대로 볼 때 14~16일령의 포유자돈에서 설사가 가장 많이 발생하였다. 설사의 원인체로는 콕시듐 원충의 감염에 의한 설사가 많았다. 또한 8~10일령에서는 대장균이나 콕시듐 원충이 단독으로 설사를 일으키기보다는 혼합 감염되어 임상증상이 증폭되는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 1~2주령의 자돈에서 설사의 발생빈도가 높은 농장에서는 최소한 한번 정도는 콕시듐 원충에 대하여 감염정도를 검사하는 것이 좋을 것이다.

영문 초록

A retrospective study was performed to investigate the correlation between Isospora suis(I. suis) and Escherichia coli(E. coli) infection in piglets with diarrhea in Korea. Two hundred fifty-three cases excreting soft feces or showing mild to severe watery diarrhea were collected from 6 commercial farms located in Kyungi province within a designated period. The affected piglets were from 2 to 26 days old. For parasitological study, fecal infective rate of I. suis were determined by direct slide smear and oocyst morphology was examined by the floating method of saturated sodium chloride solution. Routine bacterial culture and blood agglutination test were also performed to determin the status of E. coli K88 infection. I. suis is highly infected in piglets having diarrheas reaching up to 81.5% infective rate in piglets was between 14 to 16 days old. The incidences of I. suis and E. coli coinfection were 52.6%, 26.1% and 21.4% in piglets of 8~10, 11~13, and 17~19 days old, respectively. The results of this study suggested that I. suis infection was widely prevalent in nursing piglets in Korea and the damage of intestinal mucosa following I. suis infection might increase the opportunity for other enteropathogen infection such as E. coli.
