이승휴(李承休) 빈왕록(賓王錄)의 특징과 문학적 형상화

국문 초록

1273년 원나라 세조(世祖)가 황태자를 책봉하자 고려에서는 왕종(王悰) 을 하진사(賀進使)로 파견하여 축하하였다. 이승휴(李承休)가 1273년 윤6 월 9일부터 10월 3일까지 남긴 ≷빈왕록(賓王錄)≸은 현재 남아있는 사행기록 중 가장 오래된 것으로 의미가 있다. 원종(元宗)은 철저하게 고려의 현실 적인 이익을 취하기 위해 세 차례의 추천을 물리치고 이승휴를 서장관으로 발탁하였다. 이승휴는 사행의 기록을 상세하게 남김으로써 서장관의 책무를 수행하였고, 그 과정에서 모든 것을 기록하는 방식보다 유의미한 것을 상세 하게 기록하는 방식을 선택하였다. 원나라 인사와의 수창은 관반사인 후우현(侯友賢)을 중심으로 제한적으로 이루어졌다. 특히 이승휴와 후우현의 관계는 사신과 관반사의 공적 관계를 넘어 친밀한 인간적 관계가 형성되었다. 당시 사행은 시기적으로 장마철과 겹쳐 열흘 이상 지체될 만큼 험난한 여정이었다. 원나라에 대도(大都)에 이르기까지의 기록은 지체된 사행의 일정은 물론 그 과정의 피곤과 배고픔 등을 사실적으로 표현하였다. 대도에 도착한 뒤 세조 배알 장면, 황태자 책봉 장면, 연회 장면 등 원나라의 의식에 관해 상세하게 기록하였다. 특히 대도에서의 기록은 이국(異國)의 문물과 경관에 대한 감탄이 주를 이룬다. ≷빈왕록≸은 당시 원나라의 모습은 물론 초창기 고려와 원나라의 관계를 보여주는 기록이라는 점에서 의미가 크다. 또한 현재 남아있는 가장 오래된 사행기록으로 이후 사행기록 연구의 기준이 된다는 점에서 주목된다.

영문 초록

In 1273, as King Sejo of the Yuan Dynasty was proclaimed heir to the throne, Wang jong was dispatched to the Hajin-sa to congratulate him in Goryeo. The ｢Binwang-rok｣ by Yi seung-hyu contains envoy duty from June 9 to October 3, 1273 and it is considered to be the oldest of the remaining private life records. Wonjong chose Yi seung-hyu as the chief recorder, defeating the three recommendations, in order to record the realistic interests of Goryeo thoroughly. Yi seung-hyu carried out the duty of the chief recorder by recording the details of the envoy duty, and in that process, he chose the method of recording the meaning more than the information when recording everything. The work with the famous person of Yuan Dynasty was limited to the foreign messenger, Hu Wu-hyun. Specifically, the relationship between Yi seung-hyu and Hu Wu-hyun formed an intimate human relationship beyond the public relations of the ambassadors and foreign messengers. At that time, envoy duty was a difficult journey that took more than ten days, overlapping with the rainy season. The records from the Yuan Dynasty to the Dae-do depicted not only the schedule of delayed envoy duty but also the tiredness and hunger of the process. After arriving in Dae-do, he recorded in detail the ceremony of the Yuan Dynasty including the scenes of Sejo’s rite, heir to the throne. In particular, the record of Dae-do is made up of the admiration of foreign culture and landscapes. ｢Binheongg-rok｣ is meaningful in that it is a record showing the relationship between Goryeo and the Yuan Dynasty in the early days as well as the appearance of Yuan Dynasty at that time. It is also noteworthy that it is the oldest envoy duty record that remains to the present and is the standard of envoy duty record study.
