한부모 결혼이민자여성의 사회적 배제 경험에 대한 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한부모 결혼이민자여성들의 가족해체 이후의 경험과 문제를 파악하고자 사회적 배제의 개념을 적용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 따라서 연구의 목적은 한국의 결혼이민자여성들이 어떠한 과정을 통해 한부모가 되고, 이 과정에서 이들이 경험하는 사회적 배제의 경험들이 무엇인지를 분석함으로써 이에 대한 정책 및 실천적 함의를 제시하는 것이다. 본 연구는 질적사례 연구방법을 적용하였으며, 자료 수집기간은 2015년 11월부터 2016년 2월까지 총 4개월 동안 진행되었고, 연구참여자는 총 9명이었다. 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 연구 참여자들이 한부모가 되는 과정은 갑작스런 배우자와 사별 과 살기 위해 선택한 이혼 으로 나타났다. 이들이 한부모의 삶에서 경험하는 사회적 배제와 관련해서는 경제적 박탈과 결핍 속의 홀로서기 , 교육의 기회와 참여의 한계 , 빈곤과 다문화에 대한 이중차별과 관계 단절 , 아픈 몸과 마음을 돌볼 수 있는 자원 부족 , 안정된 주거확보의 어려움 , ‘법과 제도로부터 배제’ 등의 주제들이 나타났다. 또한 이러한 사회적 배제의 경험 속에서도 참여자들은 긍정적인 생각과 자신감을 가지고 이겨나가’면서 삶에 대처해 나갔다. 본 연구를 통해 한부모 결혼이민자여성의 사회문화적 특성과 경제, 사회복지, 교육, 사회적 관계의 다양한 맥락 속에서 경험되는 사회적 배제와 어려움을 이해하고 한부모 여성과 결혼이민자의 사회적 배제에 대한 이론적 토대 마련과 정책 및 실천적 함의를 제공할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The researcher attempted to explore life experiences of immigrant wives who became single parents. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the process of foreign wives becoming single parents and to analyze their experiences of social exclusion and coping strategies to such experiences. This study adopted qualitative case study as a research method and collected data for four months, which was between November, 2015 and February, 2016. Criterion sampling was used as a sampling strategy. Nine single immigrant single mothers participated in this study. The findings of the study showed that participants became single mothers by unexpected loss of their spouses and divorce from violent husbands . When they became single mothers, they experiences diverse social exclusion, such as a life of poverty associated with barriers to economic participation , being excluded from educational opportunities , ‘double discrimination and lack of social support , being excluded from access to medical care , and anxiety about unstable housing , being excluded from law and policy . Despite life hardship and experiences of social exclusion, participants strived to cope with their situation by having responsibilities for their children and optimistic and active efforts to make more life opportunities in their lives . The findings of this study would provide policy and practice implications for social exclusion of immigrant single mothers. Also, this study will provide practice foundations to develop programs, such as supporting economic independence and social network, which ultimately promote social integration of immigrant single mothers in Korea.
