영문 초록

Jaywalking, which is an illegal act crossing a road without a crosswalk, has been considered as a serious urban safety problem for a long time. 40.1% of traffic accidents causing death took place while walking. However, There are less studies that pay attention to the relationship between jaywalking and pedestrian collisions. Therefore, in this study, this study tries to analyze the street physical environments affecting traffic accidents occurred around the jaywalking hot spot. The data of pedestrian crashes was based on the TAAS data of the Road Traffic Corporation from 2010 to 2015. In addition, a spatial regression analysis was performed by constructing variables such as road structure, landscaping facilities, and walking-causing facilities. The OLS, SEM and SLM models were compared and the SEM model had the strongest explanatory power. As a result of the analysis, crosswalks with traffic lights increased the jaywalking accidents. Also, so-ro, dae-ro, underground sidewalks, bus stop density, and development density had a statistical significance with the pedestrian collisions. This study suggests the necessity of intensive and empirical study of jaywalking accidents for better pedestrian safety. It is possible to make an effective policy development to reduce the jaywalking, which is a urban safety problem, and to plan a pedestrian-safety city out of the vehicle-centered city.
