국문 초록

높은 최저임금 상승률로 인해 많은 소상공인 기업의 일자리 감소와 경영위기에 대한논의들이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 20인 이하 기업을 대상으로 임금상승률이 노동생산성에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 이와 관련된 논의를 확장하고자 했다. 본 연구에서는 임금상승률이 높아질수록 종업원들의 노력유인을 높이고 노동절약적인 설비투자를 통해 생산성을 향상시킬 수 있다는 효율성 임금이론 및 편향적 기술진보 이론을 소기업 재무데이터를 통해 실증하고자 했다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 임금상승률이 높을수록 기업의 노동생산성도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 전기와 당기 모두 추정치는 양의 값을 나타내었다. 제조업, 서비스업, 건설업으로 구별한 산업별 추정뿐만 아니라 기업규모를 세분한 추정에서도 결과는 다르지 않았다. 둘째 20인 이하 기업에서도 자본집약도의증가는 노동생산성을 높이는 결과를 보여주었다. 임금상승은 한편으로 종업원들의 노력유인을 증가시키고 다른 한편으로는 자본집약도를 상승시킴으로써 노동생산성을 높일 수 있다. 본 연구는 임금상승이 고용을 감소시키는 부정적인 결과만을 낳는 것이 아니라 소상공인의 생산성을 높이는 데에 기여할 것임을 추론하게 한다.

영문 초록

For the past years, there have been considerable number of controversies regarding the possibilities of job-loss and management crisis which can be caused by the minimum wage increase. In terms of the topic, preceding researches have been conducted in the light of the relationship between wage increase and employment. However, this research aimed to develop this issue by analysing how the labour productivity can be affected by rate of wage increase. The research attempted to answer this issue by proving past literatures which have claimed that the high increase rate of wage can promote the participation of workers and improve the labour productivity through the financial data of small enterprisers. The Observation demonstrated following results: First, the high wage increase showed high correlation with labour productivity of small enterprises. Estimated figures on both past and this terms showed positive definiteness, this results have been consistently observed not only from the estimations by industries - Manufacturing industry, service industry, construction industry - but also from the detailed estimations by size of enterprises. Second, the result showed that the increase of capital intensity enhanced labour productivity also in the small enterprises. The increase of wage can stimulate the productivity of small enterprisers, by promoting effort of employees and by increasing capital intensity. Considering current situation that oversupply of individual proprietors and small enterprisers reinforces the low productivity of those business places, the rate of wage increase can be positively evaluated as the cause which enhances productivity of small enterprisers besides its negative impact which reduces employment.
