국문 초록

본 논문은 정규 과정 수업으로서의 한국어 개별화수업(Korean individualized instruction)에서 학생들의 한국어 의사소통 자발성 (willingness to communicate)에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 이 논문의 목적은 의사소통 자발성 분야에서 현재까지 연구된 적 없는 학습 환경을 살펴봄으로써, 개별화수업 환경에서 학생들의 의사소통 자발성이 어떠한 양상들로 나타나는지 고찰하는 데에 있다. 현재 강의실 과정과 개별화수업 과정을 정규과정으로 실행하고 있는 한 미국대학에서 중급 한국어 수업을 개별화수업 과정으로 듣고 있는 학생들을 대상으로 개별 인터뷰를 실시하여 수업에서의 한국어 의사소통 자발성과 관련된 심리적 선행 요인 (psychological antecedent)과 정서적 변인들(affective variables) 이 무엇인지 알아보았다. 데이터 분석을 통해 안도감과 자신감이 심리적 선행요인으로서 의사소통 자발성에 영향을 미친다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문은 결과를 바탕으로 주제에 대한 친숙도, 선생님과의 관계, 그리고 자가 지각 능숙도의 영향에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 또한, 본 논문이 이론적 관점과 교육학적 관점에서 무엇을 함축하고 있는지, 어떠한 후속 연구가 필요한지에 대해서 논의 할 것이다. 영문 초록

As the first attempt in the field of willingness to communicate (WTC), this study examined learners’ situational affective variables that have the influence on promoting willingness to communicate (WTC) in individualized instruction (II) program, particularly Korean II (KII). The five students participated in this study to look deep into the learners’ WTC in KII. The data from the interviews were transcribed and coded, and categorized under the themes. The findings identified feelings of security and confidence as the participants’ psychological condition which enhanced the learner’s WTC. The findings about the various affective variables that influenced the learners’ WTC in KII brought to light the factors that may increase or decrease the learners’ volitional participation in communicative behavior. Based on the findings, the study focused on the few affective variables such as the influence of topic familiarity, rapport with a teacher, self-perceived confidence, which are particularly related to the psychological condition.
