『三國史記』 地理志의 原典과 撰述에 대한 考察

국문 초록

본 논고는 『삼국사기』 지리지 고구려ㆍ백제지 및 三國有名未詳地分條의 원전과 찬술과정을 고찰한 것이다. 지리지의 찬자는 고구려지 서문을 찬술하면서 『新集』과 다른 고구려 자체의 전승자료를 활용하였고, 백제지 서문에서 중국 사서에 전하는 기록을 인용하여 백제의 지리적 위치를 설명하였으며, 중국과 국내의 여러 史書에 전하는 기록을 참조하여 백제의 천도 현황을 기술하였다. 그리고 신문왕 9년(689)에서 성덕왕대 전반 사이에 고구려와 백제의 지명에 대해 정리한 저본자료를 고구려ㆍ백제지의 기본 골격으로 삼은 다음, 고구려지에 경덕왕과 헌덕왕대, 태봉에서 새로이 편제한 군ㆍ현에 대한 정보를 추가하고, 이어 다양한 전승자료에 전하는 지명의 異稱이나 別稱, 異表記 등을 細注로 제시하였으며, 마지막으로 신라지에 奈靈郡이 본래 百濟 奈已郡이었다고 전하는 사실을 참조하여, 백제지의 말미에 奈已郡을 추가로 첨입함으로써 고구려ㆍ백제지를 완성하였다. 한편 지리지의 찬자는 법흥왕대 이전 기록에 보이는 三國有名未詳地分條의 신라지명은 주로 『國史』를 기본원전으로 하는 『구삼국사』의 신라 기록과 내용이 거의 비슷하면서도 편년적 체계를 갖춘 전승자료에서, 중고기 이후부터 경순왕대까지의 기록에 전하는 지명은 실록류의 어떤 사서에서 인용하여 소개하였고, 『新集』을 기본원전으로 하는 어떤 전승자료와 『구삼국사』 고구려 기록에 전하는 고구려의 지명, 『구삼국사』 신라 기록 및 『자치통감』, 『신당서』 등의 중국 사서에 전하는 고구려지명을 三國有名未詳地分條에 제시하였다. 또한 『구삼국사』 백제 기록에서 그 위치를 詳考하기 어려운 백제지명들을 추려서 三國有名未詳地分條에 소개한 다음, 古記類와 신라측의 전승자료, 중국 사서에 전하는 백제지명 가운데 그 위치를 詳考하기 어려운 것들을 찾아 추가하여 소개하였으며, 이어 여러 지방의 읍지류와 고기류, 다양한 전승자료에 전하나 그 위치를 詳考할 수 없는 지명들을 인용하여 三國有名未詳地分條를 완성하였다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the original text and the compilation process of Goguryeoji and Baekjeji, Record of Three Kingdoms unknown-place names in the Jiriji(geographic guidebook) of Samguksagi. In the preface of Goguryeoji, the editor of Jiriji used Goguryo’s traditional materials, which were different from the ones used to write Sinjib. In the preface of Baekjeji, they explained the location of Baekje by using Chinese history books as references and further described the transfer of Baekje’s capital by referring to domestic and Chinese history books. Furthermore, they wrote Goguryeoji and Baekjeji based on the source materials about Goguryeo and Baekje’s place names of between King Sinmoon’s 9th year(689) and the King Seongdeog’s reign. They added information about Guns and Hyeons that were newly organized during the reign of King Gyeongdeog and Heondeog, the Taebong era. As detailed comments, they also presented the different place names that were passed down through various traditional materials. Finally, the editor, by referring to Sillaji which stated that originally Naryeong-gun was Baekje Nai-gun, added Nai-gun at the end of Baekjeji, there by completed Goguryeoji and Baekjeji. Meanwhile, in Record of Three Kingdoms unknown-place names, the editor of Jirij introduced place names of Silla which appeared in the records written before the reign of King Beobheung, by using traditional materials that were written as linear history, and Old-samguksa, which was written based on Guksa. Furthermore, by quoting some history books, they introduced the place names which was mentioned in the records from the Middle Ancient Period to the period of King Gyeongsun’s reign, and presented place names of Goguryeo that appeared in Old-Samguksa or some traditional materials written based on Sinjib. And the editor presented place names of Goguryeo that appeared in Chinese history books. Furthermore, in Record of Three Kingdoms unknown-place names, the editor introduced the place names of Baekje appeared in Old-samguksa, which were difficult to be estimated. They added other place names of Baekje which were passed down in the Chinese history and Silla’s traditional materials. Similarly, their locations were unknown, too. Finally, they completed Record of Three Kingdoms unknown-place names by quoting the place names whose locations were completely unknown that were passed down on the town chronicles, ancient history, and several transmitted materials.
