국문 초록

본 연구는 공립미술관으로 최초로 어린이전용 전시 공간을 마련한 광주시립미술관 어린이갤러리의 전시를 분석하고 그 실행 방법과 내용에 관한 내용이다. 공립미술관으로 처음으로 개관한 광주시립미술관 어린이갤러리의 전시 주체는 작가들로 작품을 전시하고 작품을 소재로 활동지를 만들고 전시연계프로그램에서 아이들을 가르친다. 광주시립미술관 어린이갤러리의 특징은 작품을 만지면서 체험하는 전시를 통해 아이들에게 미적체험과 교육적인 효과를 주는데 있다. 그리고 아이들에게 책의 중요성을 깨닫도록 2년마다 국내 그림책을 대표하는 출판사와 공동주최로 그림 책 원화와 그 안에서 파생된 다양한 콘텐츠를 활용한 그림책 전시회를 개최하였다. 이처럼 광주시립미술관 어린이갤러리 전시는 아이들과 시민들이 미술을 친숙하게 느끼고 문화를 향유 할 수 있게 기획된 전시이다. 본 연구의 목적은 어린이 전시에 관한 내용이 개설적인 연구에 머물러 있는 현실에서 연구를 통해 공립 미술관 어린이갤러리 전시방법의 사례를 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 광주시립미술관 어린이갤러리 전시 사례는 향후 어린이갤러리 전시를 기획하는 연구자들에게 하나의 모델이 되고 현장에서 활용되어질 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the exhibitions held at the Children’s Gallery by the Gwangju Museum of Art which has for the first time established and run a children’s gallery as a public art museum, exploring their execution methods and contents. The subjects of such exhibitions are artists: they exhibit their works, produce the reports on their activities, and teach children through programs connected to those exhibitions. The gallery is characterized by programs through which children are allowed to touch and experience artworks in person, offering them an aesthetic and educational experience. And the museum, in collaboration with domestic picture book publishing houses, has presented biannual exhibitions of picture books in order to make children realize the importance of books by using original pictures from such books and diverse contents derived from the pictures. As such, exhibitions held at the Children’s gallery are planned to enable children and adults to become familiar with art and enjoy art and culture. This study is intended to present cases of exhibition methods at children’s galleries run by national or public art museums. The cases of running the children’s gallery by the Gwangju Museum of Art could be a model for researchers or curators who plan to present exhibitions at children’s galleries and could be used on the spot.
