국문 초록

이 연구는 한국과 미국의 금융교육과정을 비교하고, 이를 토대로 한국 금융교육이 보완해야 할 점에 대해 제언한다. 한국 금융교육 내용은 ‘2009 개정 교육과정’과 ‘2015 개정 교육과정’에 나타난 금융교육 성취 기준을 중심으로 살펴보고, 미국 금융교육 내용은 CEE와 점프스타트의 금융교육과정 성취 기준을 중심으로 살펴본다. 분석 결과, 미국에 비해 한국의 금융교육 내용이 양적으로 부족할 뿐 아니라, 소비(지출)와 금융 의사 결정 영역에 편중되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 한국의 학교 금융교육을 보완하기 위한 방책으로 학교 안 금융교육과 학교 밖 금융교육을 연계 하는 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to compare school curriculum for personal finance education in Korea with that of the United States, and to propose what should be added to Korean school curriculum for personal finance education. First of all, we review the statements related to personal finance education in ｢2009 Revision National Curriculum｣ and ｢2015 Revision National Curriculum｣. Next, we analyze two influential personal finance curricula in the United States: National Standards for Financial Literacy published by Council for Economic Education and National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education (the 4th edition) published by Jump$tart Coalition. It was found that the statements in each Korean school curriculum for personal finance education were not sufficient to help students become financially active citizens, and that each Korean school curriculum leaned too much towards two specific domains of personal finance education: consumption (expenditure) and financial decision making. It was also suggested that financial education in school should be complemented by financial education out of school.
